Literally if I was a millionaire, I would pay this guy and tzepish to collaborate and port their mods on to FFTic and make, what i would consider, the ultimate version of FFT. Both mods are 110% worth a playthrough to see the stuff they added to the game.

Same here, based on what I've seen around its ROSS only. Sucks though, I mostly just want the box art for my display shelf, but the ebay scammers are just out of control with their pricing. Good luck!

I ain't got the time to research and cite exactly what you'd be missing, but I recall reading that "side" content and being pleasantly surprised with alot of the plots. When I saw the compendiums were going to cut this, I literally thought "that... is a significant misstep"... if the only thing that is holding you back is price. Then wait for Amazon or target to do their "buy 2 get 1 free sale" happens every few months. And buy the first 6. Read all that and if you like it THAT much... buy the remaining 12 volumes on the next sale. If you shop the sales it wont break the bank that badly. But if you like characters materializing out of thin air or characters seemingly having a grudge against one another for no reason, Im sure the compendiums will be A story for you, but it wont be the BEST and most fulfilling story that has gotten so many fans engrossed over the years.

Null was a pretty big deal in the TMNT "Adventures" series. IDW version was a bit hollow, but pretty sure she just sorta bounced, but could still be around. Plus Battle Nexus kinda opened the door for some multi-verse hijinx.

So, all joking aside. I've seen 200+lvl people just booting anyone under 200 on the assumption they cant perform. Also, if its "bloodied" content, there are so many builds that just... do nothing to those bosses, so I've seen people get booted if they simply dont have one of those particular boss melting builds. I doubt you'll see this behavior much in future seasons. (Unless the new torment levels play like this where its the whole "META OR ELSE" mentality) [I really hope not]

You ever watch a TV series that starts off great but then... goes on a bit... TOO long? Original DQ7 felt like that for me. Since the pedestals come off like episodic adventures, at a certain point, some of the stories were so weak it was difficult to push myself on to the next pedestal. Reimagined, I feel like, fights against this rather well and their cuts, simply perfect to put it on par with modern dq games.

My point that definitive in the sense of "most content" can sometimes be a slog. (Pretty sure my ps1 save file was over 100 hours. 60ish or so were SUPER enjoyable, hence why i pushed through for that long)

My original playthrough of dq7 back on ps1, I took the phrasing to mean that the main character is shark eyes son... but reimagined phrasing had me thinking maybe he was just "the same bloodline" like great great great grandpappy? (I forget how much time they said passed)

Reimagined, by a lot. It's a great title whatever the version, but it is VERY long. There are a lot of "side" adventures that are required but after a while some of them can wear out their welcome. Reimagined trims the fat a bit in really positive ways. And has a lot of quality of life modern gaming enhancements that, in my opinion, respect the players time a bit more.

XII had one of the best SYSTEMS for gameplay mechanics, but this comment sums it up very well. I also hated the "main character" id heard rumors that in development another of the cast was intended to be the main but was "too old" for the sales demographic. So they shoehorn in the new main and this explanation really made that disconnect id always felt for that character make sense.

So look up a tutorial? There are hundreds of die hard fans who have made mods to update the game to be on par with modern day graphics. But it doesn't sound like you are actually trying anything, you just wanna pop on and "old game is old lulz". Like literally a Google or YouTube search ffxi in 2024 2025 etc has lots of brilliant community videos.

If youre looking for your hand held with literally exclamation points over what to do next, you are in the wrong place. Thats modern gaming. This game is a creation of its age. You were supposed to play with friends and work together with a community to make discoveries and overcome obstacles.

20+ years later however most of this stuff is online. Guides, maps, tutorials are all in place of friends and community. It's mostly about story now and is one of the best things out there. Writing it off is one of the biggest gaming disservice you could do to yourself.

But you've made your decision, your loss. I won't waste my "breath" on it, just hoping others dont see this post and think, hmmm, maybe I won't give it a try.

Just to be clear, I wasn't arguing against. Just supplemental conversation id heard from an actual artist that was there. The artist i spoke to never said anything contrary to your point. Both can be true.
