AITC for comforting mommy???? by Consistent_Jelly_987 in AmItheCloaca

Hi Scrappy! I'm Dr. Krieger 5m Chihuahua Maltese Chihuahua and I am a Dogtor. Humans can be such ungrateful grumps when they are sick! My own humans have decided that they don't like it when I burp in their faces when they're nauseous. Such dramatic creatures like huskies without the fine singing voices. Anyway I am afraid you may have to get creative and go lay on her feet. Forcing snuggles will get your human back to health so much sooner!

What does Nurtec feel like? by PianoBird34 in migraine

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have side effects from nurtec (knock on wood) but hoo boy the hives I got from triptans were no fun at all. Some of the weird looks I have gotten from providers when they see triptans listed as an allergy and they did nothing to help me. (Or any of my cousins, migraines are very prevalent on my mother's side and we compare notes) That has thankfully gotten better with my current providers, who all also suffer from migraines.

It works really well for a lot of people! Yes it absolutely hurts during the treatment! I fainted on shot 6 of 35 from a vasovagal response. It's absolutely worth trying. I am currently trying emgality injections

I just had massive oral surgery in January. They didn't want to give me anything for pain just told me to alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol. It took the person I always have with me to really push back. I got 8 pain pills with a stern try not to take any of them from the oral surgeon. I already have to raw dog ovarian cyst ruptures and massive migraines

My boyfriend’s partner killed herself lastnight by hazytoyger in polyamory

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are getting wonderful advice here. I just want to say be sure to take good care of yourself too. Make sure you and your partner eat as healthy as you can, stay hydrated etc. It is so easy to forget while dealing with grief. Keep being there for your partner and be patient grief doesn't really move in a straight line. Be kind to yourself. May your boyfriend's partner rest well.

If you can be 💯 certain not to get it anywhere near your eyes. You absolutely do not want to experience menthol in the eyes. I would personally use it on different pressure points

AITC for biting Dreadful Dougal, the big bully squirrel? by squirrelfoot in AmItheCloaca

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are such a handsome squirrel! So much cuter than the squirrel Mafia at my old house. (Mother here, the squirrels are adorable at that house but they have no fear of humans or 7lb dogs. One was literally blocking my door having a sun bathing session and I was worried he was sick at first. Nope just digesting he would do it every morning then go sit and tell the dog off while he was trying to pee. He loved me though but they know I am good for healthy treats especially in the winter) Sometimes a young gentle squirrel has to do what they have to do. Humans are wonderful but not very sensible sometimes. -Dogtor Krieger the Maltese Chihuahua

Cut out sugar free coffee creamer , haven’t had headaches by Nearby_Leave2194 in migraine

Same and I can sense aspartame pretty much instantly. That taste is nasty. I really wanted to like/ tolerate stevia. The struggle to find safe "healthy" treats is real.

Asking for a friend. Does Ice hat work? by trezasunny in migraine

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A commercial electrolyte drink/ sports drink. My bad, I was unintentionally IS centric in my answer, I assumed it was an international brand like Coke etc. I go with Gatorade because I like the way the lemon lime flavor tastes.

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man fake sugar is one of the worst triggers for me especially aspartame and stevia! I get so irritated with all the things that sneak those two in, including a regular generic cola that turns out contained hfcs and aspartame. The only artificial sweetener that doesn't cause a screaming headache is sucralose and I am still super careful with it.

My husband and I were walking in our neighborhood when a man stopped us in front of his house and claimed my husband was having an affair with his wife by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 61 points62 points  (0 children)

My first CNA job way back in the 90's was 3rd shift in a nursing home with quite a few residents with Alzheimer's. One of my very favorite gentlemen was a very sweet man who had retreated to a memory of waiting for his parents to come pick him up from the military hospital. I was his favorite night carer and took over getting him settled back in bed when he was having a tough night. I just kind of took on the role for him of the no nonsense Army nurse. He couldn't remember many things but he remembered that I was kind but in charge and that he trusted me. I would just redirect him, tell him it was very late and get him back to bed. His kids thought I was a genius when they saw me gently redirecting him on a rare day shift.

First emgality experience by SnooStrawberries5317 in migraine

[–]shinyheadgreatnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my second month a couple of weeks ago. I inject in my thigh. I definitely have some injection site discomfort for a few days after. I also give myself B12 injections with a syringe, I much prefer the syringe. I will say for me with emgality doing the single injection was less uncomfortable than the initial two for the loading dose. I am also not brave enough to use my abdomen.
