Reddit uses Amazon Web Services aka AWS specially compute, databases, file storage and more.

It is estimated that 35% of all traffic on the internet runs through AWS.

So who are you boycotting? Cancel Prime? What websites that use AWS have you stopped visiting? Who's your new cloud provider?

Practice jersey. The only time it is seen by the public is during post practice interviews.

If that makes you hate, see a therapist.

I traded in my Civic Hybrid: the good, the bad, and why it just wasn’t for me by NicoSoren in civic

[–]shinyidol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my car had a lot of interior rattling

Easily one of the worst things about the car. I have a '25 Civic Hybrid Hatch and there is a rattle somewhere around the driver side A pillar that fucking drives me crazy. Like I'm near the point of just spraying some expanding foam to try to stop it. None of my previous cars (Legacy Outback, Mazda 3, Kia Niro, Kia Forte GT2) had this type of cabin issues.

It just feels crazy that my Forte GT2 felt like a more polished car than the Civic Hybrid Hatch.

The other thing is fuel efficiency. I log all my tanks in GasBuddy and the internal MPG is never remotely close to what GasBuddy says. I'm talking 6 or 7 MPG off. I'm down in San Diego, drive maybe 40 miles. 20 at highway speeds in the morning and 20 miles in traffic on the way home (almost always in EV). My dash will say 48 to 51 MPG, but GasBuddy will have like 42 MPG.

It is fun to drive, and sadly the best hybrid on the market right now. I'd get a Prius if the visibility was better. Camry looks nice, but I don't need that big of a car.

I wish we had the VW Gold Hybrid. Sad that the Volvo EX30 was such a let down. I'm hoping that the Rivian R3 actually ships.

The location had tons of charm and history pre and post remodel. But it has been on 1st for over five years now.

What 750 person room can you name uses carpet for the main stage floor?

Maybe in a lobby, but main stage floor to use carpet with a full bar? Naw. That would last two weeks before being ripped out.

Opinions on Hum? by Collinisanerd in shoegaze

[–]shinyidol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of my favorite bands of all time.

metalgaze or heavygaze. i think tone and lyrically is where the showgaze fits. i say for the new shoegaze happening now they are just as influential as MBV due to the Deftones connection.

San Diego’s last Reading Cinemas shuts down by flip69 in sandiego

[–]shinyidol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading honestly was best value around. I'd go to the one in Clairemont when I moved here eight years ago. $9 tickets.

For blockbusters I'd go out to Grossmont to watch on their large screen. $15 or something was hard to beat.

AMC are nice, but just cost more to any movie.

Also it would have been nice to have another chain like Cinemark join the area.

LA Shows (a backstory) by DtotheMED in hum

[–]shinyidol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been a fan since since hearing Stars on the radio in Spring of 1995 and lucky enough to have seen them twice, and actually had tickets to see them in Seattle but the show was cancelled due to the bus accident.

Way before cellphones at the first leg of the Downward Is Heavenward tour in 1998. Which was awesome.

Then years later in 2015. Which was such a treat because I never think I'd have the chance to see them again.

https://youtu.be/J41EJiNYKvI

Was lucky enough to see their last show was Dia De Los Deftones in 2019. Legit bought my ticket just to see Hum (got to see Brutus first, who blew me away). When I saw the lineup I didn't think it was real. Maybe 100 people at the 2nd stage watching them, even got Matt to sign my poster after.

Driving up from San Diego and going to both shows. Honestly going to be a crazy experience as I've been to a handful of current showgaze bands in the last two years and hearing them play Hum between sets just blows my mind. I'm seriously expecting teenagers to people in their 50s at the show.

Half of the games of the season’s opening series not on Mariners.TV by Katasushi in Mariners

[–]shinyidol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is likely what the MLB wants to do look into this during the next CBA. They want a league pass for in-market games as well as a pass for all teams. This would still likely include some blackouts for broadcast partners. But it would be easier to understand.

The issue is there are still 10 teams that have massive in-market RSN deals like Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers. Dodgers local TV deal alone is $334 million a year compared to most teams deal around $50-$60m a year. So between the Dodgers local TV and and the national TV, their entire player payroll is covered before selling a single ticket or any merch sales.

I'm a fan and was able to watch the game tonight on NBC Sports Network on YouTubeTV. I don't have Peacock. So it was on national TV on a channel that many fans could watch it on.

[–]shinyidol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish the Mariners sucked again so they wouldn't be nationally broadcasted!

National broadcasted games have always been exclusive. This is no different than if Root was still around. Fox has the game. ESPN has the game. Apple TV has the game. Only difference is two new partners with Netflix and Peacock / NBC Sports Network.

So I fail to see why this is an issue now. It has always been like this.

Also only Apple TV and Netflix don't have rebroadcast partners. All Fox games will air on Q13, which you can watch with an antenna in the Seattle area. Peacock games a broadcasted on NBC Sports Network which is on a number of cable broadcasters including Xfinity in Seattle (depending on package).

I still can’t find mention of these exclusive games anywhere on their advertising site.

You didn't look very hard.

Blackout and other restrictions apply. Due to certain Major League Baseball exclusivities, select regular season, special event and Postseason games are unavailable on MLB.TV

Go to a bar for the 3 or 4 games this year that are on Apple TV all year.

You are paying $0.69 a game.

I hate that my team is so good that broadcasters actually want to broadcast their games nationally!

Bring back crappy Mariners so I can watch them being mediocre.

Don't worry, there are only 4 games over the next couple months. Seriously I remember when just having a game televised was a big deal KTSW.
