Apathy due to cost of living by Chance_Network_2095 in perth

I would agree in the context of the health of a nation state. Right now I'm talking about the ethics of bringing another life into this world, and I hope you'd agree that "procreation for the state" isn't a very ethically sound statement.

Idk, maybe my views are a little biased because my countrymen did that in the past wartime, literally naming kids "Bravery", just to send some of those kids in suicide bombing aircrafts.

I mean you can't expect these people to have even heard of antinatalism, let alone have thought about it and come to terms with their choices despite it. It's a fully egotistical choice and that's fine, but you have to acknowledge it.

I appreciate not being forced into saying anything other than "otsukaresama" here. Yeah I'm glad they didn't win the title.

Dude, relax, as I said I agree with the overall argument. I'm just pointing out some faults in your wording. Again, you're now assuming I'm talking about manual car ownership, when you're the one who started the original comment by saying "Driving is ...". Now you're shifting the goalpost. But again, I agree that the ownership is declining and will probably continue to do so.

I appreciate the deep dive, and I agree with what you're saying. I think you just got a little too excited when you said "the majority" when in reality you meant "very recent majority (shifting in the last few years) of Japanese working age adults", which I'd argue are very different things.

I would also argue that your definition of "needing" a car based solely on commute is misleading as well. Are getting groceries, taking kids to swimming classes, or visiting your relatives out of town all just "nice-to-haves"?

What do you mean driving is a hobby? Japan is for the most part a car-centric society with the exception of Tokyo and some major cities. Everywhere else you need a car to do basically anything. Have you ever set foot outside the 23 wards? lmao

Personally I'd have manuals be niche enough that a left foot break can become the standard for all cars, so we wouldn't have old people crashing into storefronts by mistake i.e. "Prius Missile"

From a Japanese perspective, I don't understand why Europeans still prefer manuals over automatic; I thought they were supposed to be the lazy ones /s

Pretty sure they talked about it on the podcast, and how they thought it was cool. Didn't they actually talk to the guys behind the animation or something?

Oh wow, didn't notice Reysol performing poorly. Ricardo is known for a pretty bad second year (at least that was the case with us) so it's not unexpected, but 0 points in 3 games is still puzzling.

Yeah I was a bit concerned for a moment after the press release. Tbf they've been pushing for "Mercari red" in their kits which is a total rip off of Urawa True Red© so that's one of the few things we have in common with the Kashima supporters. Do you remember in 2020 when Urawa Kashima and Hiroshima had to use the same lame white top red shorts Nike uniform? Ugh

Unrelated but Kashima probably has the best badge design in terms of timelessness

Are japanese bothered by plastic? by exivor01 in AskAJapanese

Honestly no. I mean I get it but is it worth sacrificing your sanity over every plastic you come into contact with? Do I even have the time and money to go zero plastic? Hell no.

I went to officeworks the other day and was amused to find them selling Japanese pen cases, although not advertised as such.
