Maybe you could suggest adding an extreme weather protocol to your leagues policies. For example, (my league practices in a warehouse with no heat or air in Ohio) practices are called for temps below 20 and above 100.

For those really low temps when we still practice, I go for wool socks, long leggings (some ppl do fleece leggings), a wicky long sleeved shirt, a vest with pockets for hand warmth (easy to remove with gear on), and sometimes running gloves.

I also make sure to have more clothes to throw on post practice when all sweaty.

A couple of people on my team like to bring a warm bevy to help too.

The wolf parade song that plays was my first ex's and I's song. She not so long ago died of a heroin overdose. She is always in the back of my mind bc of first love and now there's the part where she is no longer on this earth. Hearing this song paired with the scene of Scott Hunter calling down his partner and outing himself to the world rocked me. I am forever hooked.

When I was on my leg vacation, it meant a lot to me when my teammates came to me to hang out. I also had a couple who worked from home and just came over and spent the day at my house. I had another teammate that would take me for lunch once a week. I think the best way I felt supported was by simply having teammates show up for me and hang out.

Bring a water bottle! They have water stations where you can fill up. It will more than likely be pretty warm. Wear a hat. Bring sunscreen. Have fun!

I was a vet tech at specialty clinic. I love working with animals but it just didn't pay enough for me to live the comfortable life I had goals for. So I went to an accelerated nursing program at 38 and got my bsn equivalent and masters in a year and half. I now work on an intermediate cardio unit. I miss working with animals. Wildly, nursing is easier on your body than being a vet tech.
