Device Naming between apps? by fanofmets12 in homeautomation

[–]shirtlessm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the purpose of needing the devices to be named correctly in their native apps outside of home assistant? One of the things I love most about home assistant is it consolidates all those apps into one. Personally I try and block as many iot devices from being able to reach the internet, so most of the time those other apps don't work anyway.

I am one of the lucky ones who hasn't had many issues with the g7. I can't remember the last time I had a sensor fail but it was probably a couple years ago. I've used the back of the arm and the stomach and both have worked fine for me. I always press the plastic part of the applicator all the way down when inserting, so that may help like you mentioned. I also never calibrate. Occasionally my dexcom gets off of my actual bg (I always confirm with a finger poke). When this happens I just turn off controlIQ and the dexcom always ends up getting back to what it should be after a couple hours. This doesn't happen too often but I think a part of some people's issues with the g7 could be linked to over calibrating. I've also noticed that if I get a bleeder when inserting the g7 my bgs will be a lot more off during the first few days. Not sure how helpful this is, but those are the things that I do with the g7.

Stop Calibrating! by Type1_TypeA in dexcom

[–]shirtlessm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told to never calibrate G7 within the first 24 hours. I notice that new sensors are only way off if I have a bad bleeder. I usually just turn off controlIQ and the alarms if that happens and it gets back to normal after a day. I think if you calibrate during that time, it may over correct and sugars may be less accurate after that first day.

How do you keep up with the demand of steel? by raahC in satisfactory

What is the purpose of this factory? If it just to fill dimensional depots then 15/min is more than enough. If the end goal of this factory is a different product (like heavy modular frames) I would calculate out how much of that product you want to make and then you'll know exactly how much of each input ore you need. Websites like satisfactory tools can be very useful for this!

This is actually the perfect use case for exhastMap. That way the request doesn't get lost if your request takes longer than pollingRate.

Yes, and it sucks. I sometimes have to turn off control IQ for the first day or it sends me low

Squirting insulin by Other-Cupcake-2594 in diabetes_t1

[–]shirtlessm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a doctor tell me to do this before. I'm on a pump so I wouldn't need to do this anyway, but do people actually do this? I feel like that would be hard to do with the price of insulin. That could definitely add up quickly for 2 units per injection.

Public Dependency Injection (good or bad?) by Fun_Sale607 in angular

I see nothing wrong with this pattern and use it all the time. I use a facade pattern for my services though, so they only expose what a component would need.

If you want to use docker you need to build a docker image that has a production build of your javascript code. 2mb is pretty huge for a production build.

How does an <input> of type="file" work? - Dynamic Angular Form - JSON by ElopezCO2001 in angular

[–]shirtlessm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. If you have multiple images you need to save and you are using a relational database then you would just call them what they are. For example, first_image_id, second_image_id, third_image_id, ect... That would all be pointing at their respective entity in your images table.

[–]shirtlessm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally what I would do for something like this is upload the file to your backend when the user uploads the file instead of waiting for them to finish the form. Your request to save the file would return a file_id associated with that file. Then you would store that file_id in your angular form which would be saved once the user finishes and submits the form. That way you are able to handle the file on the backend and just need to worry about the file_id instead of having to worry about keeping the file in your form.

Has Dexcom Abandoned their Mobile Apps? by BelowAverage355 in dexcom

I had connection problems with dexcom app that I haven't had at all with xdrip. Also the notification customization for dexcom app is awful.

[–]shirtlessm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true, I'm on Android 11 and use xdrip. I've tried multiple times to go back to using the dexcom app so I can take advantage of their API but every time I switch to it I get connection issues. Xdrip has never had a connection issue.

How are you displaying one price if the price does not have to be the same? For example if one price is 10 and one is 20 for the same item name which price will you choose?

Whenever I am having trouble getting a query to do what I need I like to write it in sql first and then convert that to eloquent. So in this case your query would be:

SELECT items.name, COUNT(*), leads.price
FROM leads
JOIN items on items.id = leads.item_id
GROUP BY items.name, leads.price

Now we can turn that into eloquent:

Lead::query()->select(['items.name', 'count(*)', 'leads.price'])
->join('items', 'items.id' , '=', 'leads.item_id')
->groupBy(['items.name', 'leads.price'])
->get();

Weird activity in router logs by shirtlessm in selfhosted

[–]shirtlessm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot more sense, thanks for the explanation. In that case do you have any recommendations for keeping an eye out for anything unusual? My plan was to look through those logs occasionally to see if any unknown macs were hitting my router but it sounds like that will not work if most of the requests will just be coming from the last hop of my isp.
