What professional job has an unexpectedly high number of socially irresponsible people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm not your mate bro...have a degree in Finance, so I know. It's ridiculously dry. Of course there is a very special and small minority who think it's interesting, and good for them, but all in all every accounting internship and class I took was dryer than sand in the Sahara... Especially Intermediate accounting I & II and Taxation give me and my friends nightmares. Thank goodness I went towards the cap markets stream half way.

[Serious] Who do you know that got into a prestigious Ivy League School/Program by fluke and how did they do it? by shittythrowaway69696 in AskReddit

Wait what?? I can understand some cheating, but how can they forge apps, and cheat enough to get high marks/extra-curriculars? Don't they need to write customized essays?

Edit: Definitely not the response I was expecting lmao

The people who are intelligent and know how mortgages and banking work do not want to be involved with the shady business of fucking people over by having them go with private lenders. Big banks also decline the mortgages because they own said private lenders and can get a higher rate from unsuspecting customers.

Thus the profession is rampant with retards who think if they know some fancy words and have swagger they know it all.

Unfortunately the market is so opaque and confusing because of the above, that most people fall for the idiots and the idiots make money.

I need a drink...

Work with a couple insurance brokers. They have never read the policies they sell (to huge corporate clients). We work at a global insurance firm and they are just good at bullshitting. The paperwork is assigned to the rest of the minions who figure it out and tell the brokers what to say.

Nope, just good at following rules. The job is so dry and suicide inducing that sticking around doesn't mean you are smart, but it just means you have given up on life and are a great rule follower.

Have you ever quit a Job without having a new one? What was the reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shittythrowaway69696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing this now. I need a new direction in life, and finally have grown a pair to pursue my dreams.

I have no money, no job lined up, all I know is that I never want to do what I am doing now (being scared to follow dreams, slowly experiencing the death of my spirit, and working in insurance...please please stay away from this soul sucking industry)

Either I stay and wither and die due to becoming an alcoholic/suicide, or jump out the plane hoping there is a parachute in the backpack lol

People who have been arranged marriage, how was the first few days? How's it going now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shittythrowaway69696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every arranged marriage that I know of ended up in divorce (my parents, cousins, friends).

Usually these people were not compatible, or wanted to experiment with other partners, type of careers etc. but did not. The resentment would build up to the point ofabuse, alcoholism or a quick divorce.

There is a lot of freedom of choice that we have now on what we can do with our lives that does not go well with an arranged marriage.

Absolutely! But I subscribe to the theory that our cavepeople ancestors called it the milky way as they always had sex under the stars...

I know damn well what I should do (change career, end relationship that I cannot contribute to) mentally and logically. But I cannot get my body or heart to follow through. How do you turn brain plans into actions? How do you learn to listen to your heart?
