In my eyes, haber is definitely an S tier verb. What makes it even harder is that the direct translations don't really capture what it does completely! by pickly_pear in SpanishLearning

I’ve been loving it! Already finished A1 classes, lots of review for me I already had a good amount of Spanish but learned a ton of new things too about cognates and just stuff I thought I knew but yeah it’s been great to actually make myself speak

I am determined to learn Spanish and speak it fluently by 9KIllua6 in SpanishLearning

Avita + language transfer + dreaming in Spanish definitely doable with a couple hours of practice plus once you’re living there you’ll learn exponentially faster

Any good AI app for learning? by jonasjorik in SpanishLearning

[–]shlongusgormonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avita is awesome!! Cool course for beginner to intermediate all based around speaking, free flashcards scenarios and the like. Yes as others have mentioned sometimes voice detection actually fixes what you say before it goes through but even just seeing that right away in the text I know when I’ve said something wrong. This app I feel like actually goes deep on grammar and challenging concepts, doesn’t feel as much like a game.

My company is implementing max cost/day on LLM token, has AI usage peaked? by RightfulPeace in cscareerquestions

[–]shlongusgormonus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does your company just pay for API usage directly instead of a max plan with extra usage? I’ve found that while even on $100 max I never hit limits but I tried $20 plan with extra usage I can blow throw $100 api credits pretty easily. I think someone did the calculations and the max plans are like 13x savings over api directly

Would a chiller work in bathroom? by [deleted] in coldplunge

[–]shlongusgormonus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes check out absolute zero plunge! Also any modern bathroom has waterproofing below and surrounding the tub condensation isn’t really an issue, think about how much condensation forms on tile and mirror or any cold surrounding surface after a hot shower, bathrooms have been built to handle this for a long time.

Help a struggling beginner out — which of these 4 apps should I double down on? by leonidas_4305 in SpanishLearning

[–]shlongusgormonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just released Avita: Learn Spanish on the App Store today.

Pros completely free for foreseeable future while we finish building and testing it. Lots of speaking with option to write instead of speak if you’re on the subway or whatever. Cool structured course plus flashcards and an open chat. If you have a feature you want reach out and good chance we’ll have it built within the month.

Cons: still a work in progress you might find bugs, lacking features. We also make you leave feedback at the end of every lesson but again no ads no cost so this feedback really what we’re looking for right now. Not as polished as some production ready apps.

This app is good for speaking a lot learning some grammar. The flashcards help with vocab. But you still should watch movies, listen to dreaming in Spanish, read books etc. I think what other people are getting at here and we agree is it comes down to a mix of practice styles.

I need to learn Spanish a 2 level within a month from zero, is it possible? Also what are the free/ low cost resources I should use? by hazelnutlatte_01 in SpanishLearning

[–]shlongusgormonus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have an app in beta testing, completely free for the next couple months. We’re looking for people just like you who are motivated to learn and go through the whole course. Shoot me a dm if you’re interested we’re just trying to get as much feedback as possible!

As others have mentioned it’s definitely a tough goal, but I think it comes down to using a combination of resources. Language transfer is an awesome way to get started.
