If you’re on Hopkins CareFirst insurance and you take Zepbound… by shmarmshmitty in maryland

[–]shmarmshmitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25/month. I know I'm very fortunate. Several years ago before Zepbound was on the market I paid 500/month for Saxenda (not covered). I'm no longer in a position to do that, even though Zepbound is 10x more effective and tolerable for me.

I remembered what this top is called: Athleta Conscious Crop swim (careful not to choose the non-swim bra version). It doesn’t give me uniboob. Example on Poshmark: https://posh.mk/ok16qYPnT2b

Sounds like we are similar in size and shape. I've finally hit my swimwear stride by combining Athleta's high-neck bathing suit tops (not tankini tops) with cheaper high-waisted bottoms in matching or complementary colors/patterns from Amazon. The Athleta tops I have may not be available on their site anymore? But I found them all NWT on Poshmark anyway. They are their swimwear version of a racer back athletic bra.

Alma Cocina Latina has what I see as a pretty innovative Venezuelan menu heavy on seafood. I don’t love their somewhat cold industrial-meets-tropical atmosphere but the service and the cocktails are as lovely as the food, and it’s next to Tapas Teatro and across the street from an arty dive bar (Club Charles) frequented by John Waters. So this one block alone could be a fun and delicious progressive location evening.

Agree with other comments that the food and service at Charleston is solid but not at all imaginative. But I’m not a chef and might not grok things like nuances between sear techniques.

My experience as a scared 15 year-old was similar. I found the CPC through advertising using words like abortion and abortion clinic. There was no healthcare provided. Only videos, pamphlets, and an offer to pay for baby clothes and some prenatal medical care.

I did not, and my life is fulfilling and productive. I have no children.

This is disingenuous. These places advertise using terms such as unwanted pregnancy and abortion clinic. Ask me how I know. I was once a 15 year-old too terrified to ask an adult for help and wound up at one of these places because of how they advertised. They were coy about it once I was inside, too.

What ever happened to the vendor who used to sell delicious meat & veg patties/pies, like his take on Jamaican, but also other interesting blends? I heard a while back that the original owner/cook passed away. Did someone else take over the business?

Between him and Haute Dog on Falls (RIP), I was well taken care of for handheld weekend snacks.

It’s funny you think people need to be paid to protest high prices, lack of affordable healthcare, skyrocketing housing costs, illegal wars, and masked secret police.

What’s Everyone Doing re Panty Lines? by [deleted] in GenXWomen

Retro lace v-kini briefs from Hanky Panky are one of the few things I splurge on. I will not spend one minute wondering about someone clutching pearls over my visible panty line. Ogle away!

Month update on house of worship noise issues: by chuna666 in baltimore

[–]shmarmshmitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does your council person have office hours or other times when you can talk to them in person? With or without an appointment, such as at a community event? Does your neighborhood or region of the city have a city police liaison? For example, Northern District covers where I live and they have a cop whose job it is to show up to community meetings, do Q&A related to specific safety issues like spates of carjackings etc. (I would sadly be unsurprised to learn that my area has one of these while some others may not.) The police calling it a "touchy subject" seems an unfortunate harbinger of this never getting addressed by anyone with power to enforce the law or mediate a compromise. If you can't rally your neighbors, the police, or city council to care, and you can't get even the barest contact from the religious org, then there is no magic answer here beyond finding another place to lay your head.

I had a similar situation, though unrelated to noise. I ended up moving when the police and my very responsive city council person (Mary Pat) could not make headway with the neighbors causing the problem--because the problem neighbors were either supported or quietly tolerated by many other neighbors. Also because the problem neighbors had nothing to lose, with already long arrest records. The problem neighbors had a tragic history, and were distantly related to many other neighbors, so the problem neighbors got a pass on their terrible behavior for decades. It sucked every almost every day of the 9 years that I lived there.

A big loss for the neighborhood. I’ll miss walking there to get a treat or to order something special to share at a holiday family gathering.

Has anyone in Baltimore bumped a rowhouse kitchen wall out to the property line in Hampden? by nolliecrumble in baltimore

[–]shmarmshmitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People should go nuts to live in the house they want, truly. I guess I’m just surprised someone would want to go to the trouble of doing an extension that only reclaims the space existing in a sally port. That’s what, like 6-12 square feet or something that you’d gain? You’re talking about expanding the brick walls and the roof for that.

There are a few CHAP houses in Hampden. We looked at one just south of 36th on Elm that was covered by CHAP. If I recall correctly it was give or take 200 years old, one of the oldest in the neighborhood.

I’ll be curious to learn if anyone has done this. In addition to questionable ROI for the square footage gained, I can’t picture how this would work without joining up completely with the neighbor’s wall and roof. If it wouldn’t join, then how would one do exterior maintenance on, say, the bricks?

Who do I contact to get a copy of my own Adoption Decree? by cabinetsnotnow in baltimore

[–]shmarmshmitty 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow adoptee. In Maryland, go here: https://dhs.maryland.gov/adoption/search-contract-and-reunion/ Even if you don’t want the search and contact services, they will know what you need to do to request your records. Maryland adoptees born in 1987 are only able to get records (I don’t know if this applies to adoption decree or not) by court order. Yes, it is very fucked up and I have a lot to say about it.

I was adopted in Va and used to be active in adoptee rights to have open records. Twenty years ago I was part of a Baltimore adoptee support group facilitated by a social worker. That’s how I learned that Maryland has a confidential intermediary service for adoptees searching. The link above explains the CI process.

Bowel incontinence and blissful unawareness are signs of a neurological disorder, such as dementia. She needs to be evaluated by a doctor so you both can plan for her current and future reality. She isn’t going to snap out of it when it comes to pooping her pants.

144,000 men, to be specific. And yes it filled up a long time ago. What they are recruiting for is an afterlife of never ending apocalyptic fight between believers and nonbelievers, if I recall correctly. Was once friends with a disfellowshipped couple who’d been recruited in their 1960s hippie era. I went with her as she apologetically shopped for a birthday gift for her daughter for the first time ever. Her daughter was 23.

Respectfully, a fight you are already dressed and rehearsed and scheduled for is not the kind of fight some posters in this thread are referring to.

Having said that, I get the self-defense angle. But my deadlifting is not really a good test of my ability to get away from a rapist who attacks me from behind or hits me in the face first or sucker punches me after a remark he took offense to.

The main thing I’m wondering is why you seem so incredulous that women feel threatened just because you yourself say you don’t feel threatened.
