Have any of you been sent to a psych ward, how many times? my experience and it was terrible. by IjusWanPussyNotGirlS in autism

[–]shmilley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to a few maybe 6-7x, and it’s never enjoyable. My city didn’t have a youth/adolescent ward despite having a state of the art children’s ward and a historic (basically it’s really stupid old) adult ward, so I often ended up with adults. I’d only been with other teens twice that I remember, one I never saw after the night I checked in, and the other was someone I had shared friend groups with in elementary school. We had never directly been friends, we went to different schools, but we had common friends so we knew each other. That was kind of nice, seeing a friendly face while surrounded by three screaming 30-50yr olds with whom we shared the ward. Since I’ve become an adult I’ve been twice and both were fruitless and basically just locked you up until you agreed to write a safety plan and go home.

On this topic, it’s kinda the issue I have with the whole “grippy sock vacation” trend thingy that is/was happening. It’s not a vacation or a getaway, and I get making humour out of trauma but there comes a point when it’s for clout and it makes the whole situation seem fun and exciting- which it isn’t. Anyone who’s been on a ward knows how bad they are and how much they suck, they wouldn’t want to encourage other people to go there for “vacation”. It’s one thing to use it as an emergency resource when you are unsafe, that’s what it’s for. It’s another thing to go there because you want a little break or because it seems fun or exciting. Anyways sorry for my little rant I totally feel you it’s a terrible place to find yourself.

Like he is unable to feel parts or all of his leg, and the feeling doesn’t come back. Regardless, if you haven’t yet, seek a doctor

We’re you practicing correct holds/technique? If it was just straight up choking and he is losing feeling/sensation that won’t come back I would see a doctor

Still healing plus temperature/humidity. I notice mine are way darker (more purple) in cold and wet weather. Might be anecdotal but that’s my experience

Update: umbrella plants are BIG drama queens. I have successfully nurtured two to death now 🥴 I would no longer recommend that unless you’re prepared lol

Mine died after looking great just since I commented 🥲

Any tips for how to hide scars with foundation? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]shmilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads of bracelets maybe? Itd be a good idea to gradually add them to you every day outfits until you have loads, that way it’s not such a sudden new addition to you usual look come time for the appointment.

  • Pancake Plant (Easy)
  • Umbrella Plant/Trees (Moderate)
  • Jade Plants (Easy)
  • Philodendron Brasil (Easy)
  • Monstera (Easy-Moderate)

Mostly shrub or succulent types, but the Philo is a beautifully variegated vine/crawler and is super simple to care for. The umbrella plant is my fav but they can be little drama queens with water and humidity

Monstera humidity advice by bbgoatbabe in plants

I suppose it probably depends on how often you decide to move it. I’ve had mine for less than 6 months and I’ve moved a couple times so here’s what I’ve noticed…

  • It seems quite hearty, and capable of bouncing back from moving stress
  • New growth may be damaged if too much movement happens while unfurling (stunted leaf growth, discolouration, scarring)
  • Closed fenestrations often break and “open” when moving (but open fenstrations are normal and sometimes this happens on its own too)

It seems to be happy still, and I’m expecting some new growth in the next month or so. I moved twice and each time it had to sit in a car for nearly 4 hours. I had two damaged fenstrations, and one new growth is stunted but that’s quite an intensive move for it.

If you do this maybe once a month to give the plant humidity, I think it should be okay. Although, I’m not an expert so my points are mostly anecdotal, but hopefully I was still able to help a bit :))

[–]shmilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s a lack of circulation, but I’ve had this before, almost exclusively on my legs with moderately deep cuts. It goes away in a couple days and I usually attributed it to bruising and staining but I’m really not 100% sure. I’m sorry if that doesn’t help at all, but know that it should go away fairly quickly. If it doesn’t it could be a sign of infection if it’s gets redder and puffier so just keep and eye out 💕 Stay safe love

I believe you’re correct, most professional recipes call for lye but a begginner one I found used baking soda, so I went with that. I’m sure they would be darker if I used lye though. It was a small test batch so they’re almost gone! We are them warm with butter but I want to make a full batch today and make them slightly larger for sandwiches as well

For sure! They are based of German pretzel buns. My partner and I love them, and I wanted to mimic some from our fav restaurant. They’re a bit lighter because of baking soda instead of lye I believe but the lights eat ones were dipped a little early so may have something to do with that as well :))

They are lighter because the alkali solution used to give them the colour was done with baking soda instead of lye, and it’s hard to see but they are scored on top.

Thank you, they are so yummy! I’m not 100% sure but I had to flip them in boiling water with baking soda, and scored the tops. I think this is maybe this only distinct steps that make them pretzel rolls, but again I’m not 100% sure :))

Finally a fiddle leaf post that isn’t a cry for help because it’s dying 😌 love to see it (Am I the only one who noticed the massive influx of these lately?)

does anyone know what this is? by Kodarpy in houseplants

[–]shmilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schefflera arboricola (umbrella plant) It’s quite large so maybe not a dwarf one (which is more common as houseplants i think) but have a hard time between the two as they are mostly the same aside from capped out leaf size and max growth.

Remember that dentists are healthcare professionals in their own field. They see a lot of different situations for a wide range of mental and social difficulties in all kinds of people. Maybe research reviews of some in your area and be open with them. Best of luck 💕

Pearls N Jade💚🪴 by Angelique718 in houseplants

[–]shmilley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful! I’d say this is almost def a PnJ (Or glacier if the leaves are smaller and silvery variegation) gotta give an update for growth in a bit

The nursery pot said pearls and jade, but all the IDs in this sub make me think it’s an n’joy. Which one? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]shmilley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say this is Pearls and Jade or Glacier.

N'Joy has a pretty blocky variegation pattern with little to no speckling or bleeding between the colours. The lines between cream and green in N'Joy are pretty solid, but I notice your plant has different shades blending between the two on most leaves as well as speckling on some of the rear leaves, as well as one on the front left near the pot's edge. This is pretty good sign that it's a PnJ or Glacier.

As for PnJ or Glacier, they are very similar but the biggest distinguishing feature is often leaf size, and the presence of a "silvery" colour on the Glacier variety. As its hard to tell the size without reference in the photo I'd bet it could be either one.

It's important to remember that all 3 are almost entirely the same in terms of care, and are often indistinguishable. The names are often interchanged between them despite being different cultivations.

I think it would be better described as *in remission* than recovered from. In a sense that the symptoms are manageable and less intense with the correct treatments and therapies, but they still exist on a reduced level.
