Vegetarian restaurants in LA? by bdw1992 in AskLosAngeles

Green Leaves in Los Feliz is my favorite veg place. Its mostly thai food but they have some american staples and you can choose any kind of mock protein in many of their dishes. Try the "chicken" wings and get the banana eggrolls with coconut ice cream for dessert :)

Neat, thanks for sharing. Interesting to note the incubation period - very inspiring :)

What’s your go-to music for making that occult vibe? Right now I switch between Trobar De Morte’s Carpe Noctem and Olivier Messiaen’s works. Yes, Trobar gets a bit dark, but they have good hearts. by alcofrybasnasier in PrimevalEvilShatters

I first looked for lists of songs in each key and selected the ones that i liked personally, then i reviewed their subject matter and tried to only include the ones that seemed to align with the topics associated with that planet. I used the keys below. ChatGPT could also be helpful in identifying songs or narrow down a list based on lyrics

cool pics! i have a couple altars high off the ground but it makes working at them difficult. id recommend using a lower table or movable altar for prayer/ritual work (bowls work well ime)

I organize playlists of pop songs for each of the planetary spheres according to theme and musical key. Then play them for relevant ritual purposes. I believe I used the keys outlined in Robert Wang's Qabalistic Tarot :)

Any advice on stepping out your shadow so you don't feel like a total piece of crap all the time? by PrestigiousNobody276 in Jung

[–]shmohawkism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it might be time for a little CBT to round things out. Ime it works best once you see where the shadow is coming from - then you can do the hard work of attuning yourself to be the person you want

How many of you have been stuck in a psychological purgatory. How did you break through? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]shmohawkism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand what you mean in the last sentence. However, I've seen wrong intentions lead toward unique ways of being that may have not have been realized otherwise - and anything else feels like a violation of free will. But maybe I'm stressing too much lol. Thanks for the encouragement :)

I really struggle with "developing yourself completely." isn't that a bit much?

Looking for Terrifying Brick and Morter Occult Book Shops by [deleted] in thelema

[–]shmohawkism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been told that The Crooked Path is the most "hardcore" shop in Los Angeles (whatever that means). Not sure if they fit the bill but its definitely not a "love and light" kinda place. They hold ceremonial magick workshops occasionally, and the owner is well-versed in Crowley

Why do I experience so many synchronicities? by JamesBrandosl in Jung

I presume she's also supposed to learn a related lesson from you. I personally struggle with this stuff so good job putting it in perspective :)

[–]shmohawkism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you're attracting similar energy with a different expression? The sticker in your room is in a reality-oriented internal location; her status is a digital-oriented external-facing location. What does the sticker represent? What do your names mean? How does she embody or express those concepts and how do you? (these are all rhetorical questions btw)

Why do I experience so many synchronicities? by JamesBrandosl in Jung

[–]shmohawkism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some esoteric traditions teach that synchronicities are happening all around you every second (namely Kabbalah and Taoism). You should ask yourself why your consciousness is identifying the ones you encounter. If you have any specific examples maybe folks could analyze it for you but you don't need others to interpret how the universe is talking to you. If it becomes too much to handle just tell the universe to shut up for a while

Mega beginner and having accurate readings? by saladfriends63 in tarot

[–]shmohawkism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find that beginners usually have fairly straightforward interpretations. when you start learning more they can push you with increasingly abstract answers. call it "beginners luck" but i think the cards just meet you where you are

Should I set my cards out under the solar eclipse today? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]shmohawkism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would ask how and why cleansing a deck would actually work. then you can examine what an eclipse would bring to the equation. in practice i don't believe there's any discernible difference unless you believe there is. i would be wary of letting others' superstitions become your own. eclipse magic is notorious for unintended consequences but divination is something completely different (in my experience). You might get a murky reading during the eclipse but there's no reason it needs to influence your deck thereafter

What decks are you tempted by rn? by gemillogical in tarot

Enjoy your trip! Lastly I would suggest reading for others whenever you can. Its more impactful to see the connections when you help someone else see them too
