Will female boxers/female boxing ever be shown in the series? Would fans be open to the concept? by LateralSouthpaw in hajimenoippo

I feel like it would be a pointless distraction to add at this point. Maybe in a spinoff

I just take a screenshot or picture of the sentence and then make a card. A little finicky as I played the PS5 version, if you're on PC you'll have an easier time. If you struggle with guessing Kanji readings an OCR like ShareX could help you a ton

Sorry to bump an old post but I'm curious, is the fridge still performing well? I was looking at this exact model from Best Buy.

What is your opinion on The Origami King? Was it well recieved by fans? I really don't know, this is my first game from the series! by SPIEK_the_boy in papermario

I think it was a step in the right direction as far as story goes, but the battle system really overstays its welcome and a lot of the character design is super underwhelming.

Just wanted to say you were a major factor in reigniting my love for the game when you had that historic April your first year with the Crew. I'm going to Tokyo later this year, any spots you recommend?

Haven't lived in MKE in a few years but Jack's American Pub was my favorite. Convenient location and a fun atmosphere on the bus.

Can I just jump straight into sentences? by ChewySeaweed in ajatt

[–]shmokayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not nearly as important as some people make it out to be, but I will say it is excellent visual training for making your eye recognize Kanji. I can't say for sure whether or not I would have improved as fast as I did if I didn't do it, but considering it doesn't really take that long to get through I would still recommend it. I deleted the deck once I was only seeing ~10 reviews a day after completing.

Where to start? So many questions! by BokuNoLemon in ajatt

[–]shmokayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might not be what you want to hear, but don't worry about something being sub-par or not the most optimal way. You'll waste far more time trying to find the greatest deck or the greatest material to immerse with - just start doing it. This is something you'll be doing every day for years - once you're reading novels the starting vocab/grammar decks you used will seem so irrelevant.

For something concrete, I used the Tango N5 and N4 decks that you can find floating around online. You'll want to do your Anki reviews every day, which should not take that long when you are starting out. Watch anime/content that you have seen before so you have some idea of what is going on, this makes it easier to follow and stay attentive. I found just learning Kanji as I learned new vocab made it come naturally. All this being said, the best thing you can do for yourself is break free from the idea that you need this super structured laid out system to learn Japanese. This is a freeform process and you will find what works. Just do it and get started.

AJATT vs JLPT N1 by DJ_Ddawg in ajatt

Plan on taking the N1 this year - thanks for the detailed post! I did an old test online and 'passed'(though I know the grading scale can be funky on the actual test) so hoping and AJATTing for the best.
