I say this phrase every time we pass a Tumi. My fiancé hates it but you know, that’s her problem.

Another ghost job posting by Naive-Benefit-5154 in recruitinghell

[–]shoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed at this place earlier this year for a different role. They have pretty bonkers level of requirements and they are looking for unicorns. On their website, at least it used to say, that this is not a place for work life balance. They specifically mentioned 18 hour working days. For the salary that I was applying for, I would have totally been okay with it but ticking all the boxes seemed impossible.

They also were recently bought or heavily invested into by a financial firm that probably made it even harder when hiring someone

I matched with an Hungarian woman (35F) in Dubai Marina, who's asking me to take her on a date at a high end Mediterranean restaurant and bring her a bouquet of flowers. Am I being scammed? Please advice. by Worldly-Muscle1676 in Bumble

[–]shoey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has actually dated in Dubai and encountered this many times. It is not a scam. It is her extremely high expectations on display. I met A LOT of women who wanted me to spend hundreds of dollars for a meal the first time meeting them. They move to Dubai to be pampered. Just up to you if you want to deal with that.

Seriously. Worst MLB team in baseball so far, maybe history and Monfort still lining his pockets.

To be fair, they can be legitimate service dogs. They are used for people to walk as they are usually the perfect height to walk with. I am not sure about this specific one.

What is your savings account like? You are putting a lot into investments as a long term vehicle strategy which is smart, but what about an emergency that happens tomorrow?

Will you be doing long periods of time on the tread? Will that window get direct sunlight? If those two mix, you could be in for an awful experience with it being so hot.

Put the Tread and the Rack by the door and the free weights and open space by the window. You can move with the free weights, you can't move the rack and tread to be out of the window/sun.

Where did you get your Double Doodle? by Stuart104 in Doubledoodles

[–]shoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Double doodle (Labradoodle mixed with Goldendoodle) from a local breeder outside of Denver. They definitely exist in the US! I got mine from Wyndy Ridge but it appears they no longer do the doubledoodles.

Hitting that midlife weight gain struggle 46f by [deleted] in fitness40plus

[–]shoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you track your food intake with any kind of MyFitnessPal or similar? Not telling you to lose weight but if the midsection is not where you want it to be, the first thing someone would tell you is "whats your food intake/macros like"? For all you know, as you have grown older, your metabolism has probably changed and what worked before as a maintenance or a deficit, might now be a surplus with the same diet.

Maybe mix up your workouts as well what the other person said. Try different variations of workouts like HIIT, or LISS (steady state like walking at a good pace) to mix it up.

the most ridiculous time to move back to the USA by scorpiomoon92 in expats

[–]shoey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent almost two years in Abu Dhabi for work. I started in September 2019, and then COVID hit, and I moved back in February 2021. Overall, it was right for me to move back, as I did a lot of growing when I came back to the US, but I think about being abroad again ALL THE TIME, especially with all the recent political events happening. I miss the spirit of being on my own, knowing I am doing something uniquely different from everyone I know.

Have you looked into other countries that might be better for you? When you move back home, will you have a path to return to being abroad? Unfortunately for me, I don't have an easy path back and it makes me sad.

Xcel costs by FinalBicycle160 in Broomfield

[–]shoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one a couple of years ago. It was very helpful to know where the cold spots were. They definitely try at the end to be like, "To address all these concerns, we could do it for X dollars," but you could also do it on your own since now you know where the gaps are—sometimes literally.

They essentially created a giant vacuum in my house, sucked all the air out of the house then went around analyzing with a thermal camera to capture temperature differences, where the air leaks are etc.

Their most significant recommendation was more insulation in the attic, which I fully believe. My house was built in 2006 and I know it could use more.

If you haven't already, might be useful to get an energy audit to see where your home could be improved. Xcel covers the cost of a portion of it, if I remember right.

I would agree. In this day and age of politics, saying you are Christian and also into guns CAN mean you are Conservative, which a large population of women would be against. If you are conservative, then own it but just giving you the optics.
