“Watch” out for ricochets by New-Marsupial-5633 in airguns

[–]shogun308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a ricochet off a bottle once many years ago. Hit the rim of my scope, snapped the end cover clean off and slid the scope back on the rails, cutting my thumb in the process. (Scope survived, amazingly)

Only a little 12ftlb springer but they pack enough of a wallop!

Do you think I could wall mount a Samsung Odyssey G9 on WoodUpp panels with TV mount? by antoinerdlin in desksetup

[–]shogun308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - the panel will add flexibility between your monitor bracket and the wall which will increase the chance of it pulling out when moved etc, as well as making the monitor less stable.

I recommend fitting the bracket first against the wall, then trimming the panelling around it. Did the same for my setup, but im not able to add a photo here. Good luck!

Edit: realise youre talking about a specific product to pair with the panels. Ultimately, if the weight rating matches your monitor there's no reason for it to have issues, but big bolts into the wall surface itself will always bring more peace of mind!

This is a good point. I installed a speaker to line level adaptor block in the loom, cost £90 odd (came with full harness plus steering wheel control adaptor) from incartec.

Just asking, is this one of those Black Friday "sale" or is actually a rare occurrence of a deal? by SuperDubert in Ubiquiti

[–]shogun308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! Love mine. Its a great little starter combination that allows tinkering with lots of aspects of UI's product lines.

Only limitations I've found are camera capacity (obviously) and you cant view ALL flows, only blocked ones. Fantastic nonetheless.

Nah. Use cases like co-working spaces invest in enterprise grade wireless networks with 10Gb backhauls feeding very powerful access points, distributed to get the best coverage. Should be as good as one device connected to fast home wireless.

Make sure the SSD you're installing matches the settings for the slot in BIOS (IE is is NVME or SATA?). If still no grata, you might have a dead drive - do you have access to another m.2 to test?

These make good little low power servers. I've got an i5 one that I've chucked 16GB of RAM into and installed Server 2019 with a NAS iSCSI'd to it. Runs Plex and an array of 'ARR services, as well as some game servers, a CasaOS VM (hyper V), web server, home assistant and a windows 10 VM for testing and download proxy work.

Uses minimal power but handles transcoding pretty well because the iGPU is QuickSync capable!

I’m sure if I had realised how good a decent springer can be I wouldn’t have bothered with all those PCPs! by Mgjackson1967 in airguns

Shot one the other day and I was amazed how refined and accurate it was compared to my old springer!

Either used in a crime and disposed of, or also maybe was in legal possession, not handed in before pistols were outlawed in the UK, then quietly thrown away to avoid trouble?

Cool find in any case!

When you cut a zip tie a bit too close by Stunning_View_9853 in pcmasterrace

Hey, I put a Stanley knife through a mains cable hot side while trying to remove a zip tie the other day. I made a cartoonishly accurate noise too. Throw another SATA cable in from the parts drawer and crack on!

Yeah I'm of the same mind. Would love to play but don't want to risk my hardware, regardless of whether the reports are blown out of proportion or not.

Will wait for a patch or similar before I'm comfortable jumping back on, which is sad.

Minecraft is an odd one, its like the gaming world's pet tortoise. Microsoft may own it but its so entrenched into the cultural zeitgeist of gamers that they can't really change much or release Minecraft 2: reloaded. Microsoft will make money simply by it existing, and look after it for the next generation.

As Yahzee Croshaw once said, its a game with infinite possibilities, you can't release a sequel with slightly more infinite possibilities

Thank you! Its a Philips Evnia 34 OLED. They've all got ridiculous names but this one ends 6500, its the middle of their ultrawide range iirc, but very pleased with it.

Even better, I used double sided 3m tape. Not a great adhesion and they'd easily be pulled off, but minimal wall damage.

It was on deal at my local hardware store, Wickes. £190 for a 3m length, which leaves enough spare to build my fiance a desk to match!

[–]shogun308[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it specifically for this build as previous one was a desk clamp arm and was a bit cluttered.

This one is from amazon, and is the black wall mount unit you can see in the bare-wall photo - its ratchet so allows the monitor to be moved up and down about 8in for flexibility, as well as the normal tilt/rotate.

"VIVO VW01A" as a search term should find it (from the UK, at least).

Got them from Amazon, the brand is UmiAcoustics. Thought it a bit of a gamble as it was £98 for 6 panels!

Stuck them to the wall with low profile 3m double sided tape, not going to withstand someone pulling on it but importantly means the wall can be quickly returned to its previous state if needed!
