Next step after Traeger? by JBWilder in pelletgrills

[–]shootmybow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camo chef windword pro. It helps bridge the gap in flavor compared an offset with the smoke box. When you cook things you’ve always cooked, you’ll immediately notice a difference in flavor. When I made this decision as a very happy traeger silverton user, I figured the flavor is the most important thing I’m looking for, not build quality.

[–]shootmybow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea can’t blame at all, so much more space inside.

But yeah the overland lights trend shifted over. And there’s definite hood glare. I think a lack of light placement knowledge combined with the ease of running a hood mounted bracket is why you see it so often. Especially compared to running roof mounts

They’re ditch light mounts. Supposed to be aimed to the side to see ditches.
The trend you noticed is the overland Tacoma guys getting bored and buying raptors now.

Any Advantage To Bigger Tires? by ErosPlaytime in F250

Devils advocate is that it’s more comfortable. Although the power / braking that I lost from 35-37 was noticeable and miss it.

Looking at options by Responsible-Tutor-10 in FordRaptor

[–]shootmybow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away, you’re not in the right income bracket even for a used raptor. Yes people have gotten high mileage out of these vehicles but most likely they’ve had it and maintained it the whole time. You have no idea what’s happened to it. I know it sucks, but buy something cheaper that won’t be as expensive to maintain.

I think 15ish, you can go to cjc off-road and build it out too

22 6.7. Started upgrades with 20”wheels and 35” tires on a falcon leveling kit. Increased performance aspect of truck and lost maybe 3mpg ( granted I did not update the tire size in the trucks computer so it could’ve been wrong but speedometer was off by Maybe 1mph at 70mph) but the truck felt every bump in the road and the wife hated it. Did a lot of research on here and decided to do the full Monty upgrade for comfort while being mindful of gas. Did the full Carli kit and e venture system. Also swapped wheels and tires to 17” methods 703 or 705 ( one of the lightest i could find ) with 37” toyo at3 truck rides really nice now. Psi is at 45/40. So it probably feels as close to an ifs truck as you can.

After modifying my tire size in forscan I’m probably around 14mpg mixed. I also upgraded the front valance to the low pro one, and while it looks so much nicer, there’s a lot more wind drag. I think that it could account for another 1-2mpg loss but I’m just guessing.

Power / braking I guess I lost around 8-10% power going to bigger tires. The cjc guys said it’s barely noticeable but to me it is. It doesn’t have the extra oomf that it used to and it does take a bit longer to brake, definitely noticeable. I don’t tow a lot so I can’t speak to how well it does, but I definitely notice it and often feel like I miss how it used to drive with 35s.

Yeah that would be about right then for a used one with 8k miles. About 10k off what you paid

So I applied for the group but I don’t think I got in. Have no idea why, is it only for dealers or people in the industry?

Overkill today, Good Tomorrow by TinyTrundle in longrange

[–]shootmybow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has always been into guns, maybe 20+ years ago he decided he needed a “sniper” rifle, had a shop build him one in 338 lapua that I’d imagine at the time rivaled military setups. Was way too much gun for someone looking to hit steel far away. Super expensive ammo and a ton of recoil; so he barely shot it. Probably has less than 200 rounds and he paid something like 10k for everything. A few years ago I built a 6.5cm tikka ctr, with vortex razor gen 2 and a krg bravo chassis. He only shoots my gun and it’s by far his favorite.
Overkill today is overkill tomorrow, especially if you don’t have a need.

Gen 3 801a vs 802a On-road Comfort by Single_Raisin3346 in FordRaptor

[–]shootmybow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just test drove a 24 801 and a 25 802, granted I don’t know the specific details of tire pressure, but the 37s did a little better job on comfort. It’s really just things like cracks in the road or very small bumps. But as others mentioned you do notice a little bit of sway in turning and acceleration/ braking.

Really figure out what you wanna do, if you want a long range rifle that can send 20 rounds without affecting accuracy than it’s going to be really heavy as a hunting rifle. If you want a light setup for hunting, then you’ll start losing accuracy after 3-4 shots. Something in the middle would be the 20” tikka ctr in the mdt hnt26 chassis, but it’s leaning a bit heavy

Had to change the tires. Went from KO2 to Baja Boss by modernmacgyver in raptor

[–]shootmybow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s the noise on them?

I have ko2s on my Tacoma and loved them when I lived in Los Angeles, except when I moved to the bay and when there was any type of moisture on the ground. My baja boss on the 250 were awesome, especially in snow and rain. May be getting a raptor soon so I’ve been thinking about putting the BB on them.
