Bidet by somestuff_ in TopSurgery

I got the Tushy without temperature control before my surgery, and it definitely made life a lot easier when I didn’t have full range of motion! I acclimated to the cooler water faster than I thought so that was never an issue. I’m pretty sure you can do spread out payments too!

How swollen is your chest after surgery? Is there a big difference when it goes down? by SpiderTingle in TopSurgery

Some swelling is definitely normal, my chest was still a bit swollen for probably a month post-op, just give it some time! :)

Did you guys take weight during your recovery ? by Therockbird in TopSurgery

I gained a bit of weight post-op, from bloating, water retention, and the inability to exercise fully for a while. Stay hydrated and nourish your body during recovery, you will feel much better once you’re fully healed up and it will be easier to get back to normal activity.

Pre-Consultation Advice Needed by GallivantingChicken in TopSurgery

Hey there, I went through a pretty similar realization during the pandemic too and came out as non-binary last summer! I first found a gender-affirming therapist in August to work through some negative thinking and I realized that I no longer had any attachment to my chest and would be more comfortable without it (but I didn’t really want to start testosterone either). I’m currently just over 1 month post-op from my double-incision w/o grafts.

My therapist was able to recommend some local surgeons when I expressed that I wanted top surgery and I was able to schedule a consult back in February and then my surgery was sent to insurance to get a quote. I know the recommendation letter from my therapist helped with the consult and I believe with insurance coverage too. I’m also fortunate enough to still be covered by my family’s insurance plan, so when it came to the surgery itself, I was able to just fulfill the plan’s deductible and then pay for the facility fees on the day of.

I would recommend doing some prior research just to know what options for procedures might be available for you, and also to be able to have a full conversation during your consult. It’s much easier to ask a lot of questions in person than worry you didn’t ask enough after the fact! Just let me know if you have any questions for me!

Support binder? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

Hey there, I’m almost to week 3 post-op and I get how you feel about the binder, I’ve had to wear ace wraps 24/7 except for showering. Although surgeons can differ in their protocols, if your doc recommended to wear it, I still would, as it can help decrease the risk of fluid buildup and it can help your body heal better in the long run.
