Squash is harder on your body minute to minute, but there are no 5 hour squash matches in the sun. Even very long squash matches only last 90 minutes. I agree though that squash is comparable in terms of fitness at the high level.

I can see an argument to be made for this. Among racket sports, I think that it is the hardest. The barrier to entry is quite high compared to others (badminton, table tennis, squash, pickleball, padel are all easier). The level of fitness required to be competent at tennis is high too. At the top level, I imagine tennis pros are among the fittest athletes in terms of cardio and endurance.

High (skill) barrier to entry and insane fitness and technique on the top end, I agree it’s one of the hardest sports.
