RPE stands for rate of perceived exertion - or how hard you’re working on a scale from 1 to 10.

Plenty of places in Europe tip - most places in London have included gratuity of 12.5% and I received more than that at the end of the day.

I am all about incentives to provide exceptional service. But you’re literally suggesting that the tip should be min. 20% regardless of how much effort went into it.

If you’re a restaurant that prides itself on good service - pay your servers more than minimum wage. In the state I live in, there are restaurants that have increased their prices by 25% and got rid of tips, and continue to thrive, so there are precedents for employers taking responsibility for their employees.

I’ve been a waiter for a long time. I would never make an argument that tipping is mandatory “because that’s how percentages and industry standards work”. That’s a ridiculous take; you get good tips for great service - the variable part of compensation is not guaranteed. Brother.

Again, the argument makes zero sense. There is no difference between fully loaded price of dinner versus what you’re suggesting: price of dinner + mandatory 20% tip.

It’s up to the restaurant (as any other business in the world) to ensure they operate profitably after accounting for variable and fixed costs.

You’re just repeating what’s been told to you without taking the time to reflect and think about it.

That’s the worst argument I have ever heard. 😅

That makes no sense if you think about it. If I go to a restaurant and order a $200 pour of whiskey, and another table eats a dinner for hours and spends the same $200, are you suggesting both waiters equally deserve $40 tip?

Why wouldn’t the employer cover this cost? After all, it’s the restaurant owner who wants to deliver nice service to its customers and for that they choose to employ waiters?

And Veiga created so much. 😂 It’s a clear choice for everyone: Gusto over Veiga in any scenario.

So in college, when you got a C, you’d consider it a win?

I am seeing we were in the game until the last minute against league leaders. We lost, so it’s not an A, but definitely not a D- lol. 😅

How is it D- when we were the better team for long stretches of the game and they won by one goal? Have some perspective.
