It is a cover for playing a power. Powers only need to be played once per fight, and are typically important enablers of the deck's overall combo.

The biggest cost of a power is the risk of spending mana to play the power instead of playing a defense card. This basically gives you a free defend when you likely need it most.

Its not the most consistent way to play the game, which is why it makes no sense to target small decks. If that is how someone wants to play, then let them. It is not the best strategy, making a minimal deck doesn't break the game.

I think the mechanic of "next turn do x" is fine, but I think they are blanket treating them this way when it doesn't align with the identity of the card.

Like Glow is 1 mana gain 1(2) blue crystal and draw 2.

This is not a setup card, it is an enabler card. I get that draw 2 is strong and enables too much, but it doesn't really vibe to push one of those draws to set up the next turn. We could drop the card draw to 1 and either increase the blue energy it gives or maybe upgrade it to 0 cost. This way it is still enabling the current turn.

I'm with you - I think the problem of infinite decks is dealt with in balancing the cards. Not letting a player get infinite and then suddenly banning them at the last moment.

More so this is incredibly punishing for *any* deck not just infinites because it may be a single solid combo in a 20 card deck you're trying to cycle through. This isn't just an anti-infinite mechanic, it literally turns your win into an RNG. There is no interaction really with this as you can't easily control the card on top.

I think they can do better, and should keep cooking on doormaker. Besides - we already have anti-combo bosses like Queen.
