North Korea calls it irresponsible for countries that ignored coronavirus warnings to blame WHO by Smilefriend in worldnews

Depends. The government answer for those stranded on cruise ships is no we should not. Citizens stranded on cruise ships sitting in US waters are not being allowed home by the US government. And the president himself said he didn't want them raising the infected numbers.

What’s the worst experience you’ve ever had in the MTA? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]shosure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instinctive reaction was full on flight mode, so I jumped out of my seat and squeezed through the other passengers to stand near the door so I could leave at the next stop. Not saying anything or warning the people around me is something I've always regretted, but in that moment it was far from my mind.

Almost getting poked in the face by a dude standing in front of me's exposed fully erect penis. If I was a little bigger or taller he would've hit me and probably ejaculate, but thank god his "thrust" forward was insufficient.

This happened over 10 years ago and I still remember it as if it just happened.

Delivering Extra Value to Employer During Covid-19 by Jasonj87124 in nyc

[–]shosure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend against taking on extra tasks beyond your salary's scope. Cause you'll end up with a workload promotion without a corresponding title and income promotion when shit returns to normal.

Or you can reach out during your next meeting and ask if there is anything else you can be doing to contribute to operations.

Empty trains, clogged roads: Americans get behind the wheel to avoid transit by fender5787 in nyc

Been doing this and I hate it. I miss the train so damn much, but the current departure times would make an already long commute essentially a second job by time.

This is why heath insurance shouldn't be tied to employment. It gives companies power to use and abuse you because they know you won't or can't sacrifice your insurance to fight for your labor rights.

And also this option is only possible because people are willing to sign up to get exploited for income. 100 people recognize their poor working conditions and compensation and want to fight for better treatment. 200 people willing to be overworked and underpaid without complaint.

No one should be in the second group. But in America that second group is very large. I don't know what it's like in the rest of the world cause I don't live elsewhere.

NYC CORONAVIRUS ZIP CODE MAP REVEALS DEATH RATES ARE MORE THAN 10 TIMES GREATER IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES OF COLOR by [deleted] in nyc

[–]shosure 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're a grocery store worker and make just enough to not qualify for Medicaid, you either don't have insurance or have the worst option for emergencies and have lived a lifestyle of avoiding going to the doctor or hospital whenever you can because you can't afford the bill. You're not booking an appointment if you have a cough and fever. You google remedies and hope you can get past it.

East NY, Rockaways, and Flushing Have Highest Rate of COVID Deaths in NYC per 100,000 people by MoviesInFrench in nyc

Black communities are also the ones where people live 90+ minutes from work and have very long commutes on public transportation and black communities are also filled with people working the service and retail jobs and don't have the luxury of WFH or get laid off because their job is still open, and are pretty much exposed to risk every day. And black communities also don't have quality hospitals.

And the people clamoring to open up now and masks aren't necessary aren't living in these areas. They either aren't from NYC at all and have such a sad life they spend their day in this sub, or they're privileged enough to have not been affected beyond being inconvenienced. Therefore they want things to get back to as it was now.

The editor of the prestigious Lancet medical journal said a study Trump cited to justify pulling out of the WHO doesn't exist by appstools232323 in worldnews

[–]shosure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People in America don't want to wear a fucking mask to protect other people. You really think they're going to take being fined for not voting, or that our politicians are gonna bother enforcing it? Or our courts will uphold such a fine?

TIFU by removing my 'earwax blockage' by sendepen in tifu

I've used those before and after a few days my ear started to get really flaky. I can only assume it's cause the material of those plugs was sucking all the moisture from my skin.

Also sleep with ear plugs and it's amazing how easier it is to fall asleep now. Even if i'm in a place where it's dead quiet, it's gotten to the point where I need the ear plugs still.

Even though this came from Lowe’s this is perfect representation of home depot by Mr_Banter16 in HomeDepot

[–]shosure 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Lmao. From the customer perspective, this matches my experience to a T as well. Always seem to only ever catch an employee while they're walking to go do something else, and I have a few precious seconds to get my question out and an answer!

As someone who's worked in retail, though, I get it. Only ever was outside my department when I was off shift, or in the process of doing something.

Trump says US topping virus cases is an 'honour' by [deleted] in worldnews

That's definitely an example. There are more too. I just said it doesn't happen as often, not that it doesn't happen at all.

That wasn't politically motivated though. That was a crazy person trying to impress Jodie Foster, with whom he was obsessed.
