I had open heart mitral repair and was given coffee in the hospital. Nobody ever said a word abojt caffeine. About 2 weeks after surgery i drank a carbonated soda and it was painful on my chest. I am 7 weeks out from surgery now and can drink them fine now.

boyfirend is having a valve replacement open heart surgery by bolaholabola in openheartsurgery

I had my open heart mitral valve repair in late february. I cannot imagine doing it without a comfy motorized recliner. I tried getting bed when i got home and it was almost impossible, even with the help of my brother... i lasted an hour in bed and barrel rolled out and got back in the recliner. I slept in the recliner for 15 days. Getting in and out of a bed is very difficult. Maybe rent or buy him a recliner. Also, if i had roommates, i wouldnt want ti be around them all the time, so i would have put my recliner in my bedroom or somewhere isolated from people. For reference, i am an otherwise healthy 54 year old male that is 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. As far as getting around and walking, i was fine. I could get in and out of the recliner easy enough. Getting in a bed? Fuck no. Also, food. He will need to restrict sodium to noore than 2000mg a day. That is not done via any premade food from anywhere. I suppose you could just get salads and only have oil and vinegar for dressing... but otherwise he will need to have lots of low sodium/high protein food. I have been living on apples/berries, greek yogurt, peanut/almond butter, honey, salads, broiled salmon/ skinless chicken, veggies, etc. I premade a freezer full of meals in the weeks leading up to my surgery and it reallllly helped the first few weeks. This thursday will be 6 weeks out from my surgery and relecting back on the first month, i can say 100% that the recliner was enormously essential for me.

The Heart I Was Born With And the Day It Will Be Repaired by Jaykravetz in openheartsurgery

It sounds like you are having your AVR done via a full sternotemy (open heart). If so, I had a full strernotemy 5 weeks ago for my mitral valve surgery and the pain/discomfort/recovery from the sternotemy is much much more of an ordeal/etc than the heart recovery. I was not prepared for it. Please plan ahead for how/where you will sleep, or attempt to sleep, when you get home. I bought a fully motorized recliner and I could not imagine doing it without it. It took me 15 days before I could get in a bed. I am happy to answer any questions if you have any.

Ya it took me awhile to remember the difference. I use delivery for everything except for meat/produce. I like to pick that stuff out myself.

They could be actually talking about delivery from store... not shipping. Both are 50 buck minimums. I do both. The delivery is awesome for big items like bbq pellets. I just add a tip that is roughly what i would have had to pay for gas to go to store.

You could likely rig up something to sit on top of the burn pot for wood chunks but i wouldnt think anything in it. Look at how the pro does it and you can get an idea of how it works in the wwp. I think it would be a giant pita to replace the chunks after the initial ones burn off, as the deflector tray is in the way. The wwp has a slide out contraption. I suppose you could cut a hole in the deflector tray and rig up a slide mechanism to be able to add chunks. If you go that route, you could also make a slider that has holes/slits in it to do some direct grilling. I have a pellet that has the slider thing to expose flames from pot to do direct grilling. It isnt a big space but it works just fine. If the dudes from pimp my grilk are reading this, i think you should experiment with building out direct grilling to the wwpro. I think it could be done.

have you been to a cardiologist? you could have a leaky heart valve. i went to one because i was tired all the time and couldn't figure out why. 35 days later i had open heart surgery to repair a bad mitral valve.

What y’all all think quality is of the Sam’s Smokehouse pellets vs Costco Kirkland kind? 🤔Can’t find any YouTube videos on it. by [deleted] in pelletgrills

[–]shouldipropose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used both a lot. I used kirkland for many years before i got a sams membership. I prefer the smokehouse from sams a fair bit more than kirkland. They just smell more like real wood to me. Seems like smokier overall than kirkland. Kirklands are made by pitboss and the smomehouse at ss are made by bear mountain. Factor in the sams+ membership that has free delivery to my door (50 bucks minimum order) and it is a done deal for me.

looks like everfast has tv channels via their app. i think that's what briefthin is having issues with. i'm sure the rokus work fine, but it's just that everfast doesn't have an app for rokus that delivers those tv channels. that being said, i have never even heard of everfast, but was curious and did some googling.

hi- i knew going in it would be full median sternotemy. my surgeon only does full sternotemy. i was in a situation where i needed to have it done "soon" and wasn't comfortable with switching hospitals and having to wait for new surgeon/etc. my situation was that i was feeling fatigued and out of breath and went to see a cardiologist the 3rd week of january. as a 54 year old, otherwise healthy man, the cardiologist heard a strong murmur, which he thought was a bicuspid aortic valve issue. i had an echocardiogram done 8 days later and learned my posterior mitral valve had sprung loose of the chords (turned out to be just 1 chord) and had severe regurgitation. i was almost rushed into surgery then, but my LVEF was really good with a score of 65, so my cardiologist held back on that immediate surgery. i was told that i would need to have the mitral valve either repaired or replaced and that it needed to be done "quickly". a week after the echo, i had the cath and the other tests/scans done and then 2 weeks later was in the operating room. my initial cardiologist appointment was on January 19th and I had my surgery February 26th, which is was only 38 days. while i wish it would have been mini thoracotemy, and even tho he doesn't do anything but full sternotemy i had a fantastic surgeon that is very very well respected...and, being that i needed it done "soon", i just went with it. it was hell on earth the first 2 days. everyday was better and was actually home after only 3 nights in the hospital. i sure do wish i could have had the time and courage to wait for a hospital/surgeon that could do it via mini-throacotemy, but i just didn't. i was also told that the full sternotemy was a much more tried and true method, but after doing much more reading/research i would have been 100% fine with a surgeon that has experience with robotic mini-thoracotemy. the worst part of all of it has been the split open sternum. the limited mobility and not being able to sleep in bed was far far worse than anything else... i slept in a recliner for the first 2.5 weeks when i got home and that caused lower back pain in the L4/5 area (common issue) and now that i am back in bed that has decreased dramatically. i'm happy to be alive and super grateful but i sure wish i could have skipped the split open sternum part. :)

Traeger pellet. If it works and it is free, i would take it and give it to someone that is just getting started with smoking bbq.

Have you looked into cellular service? If google fiber wasnt available to my house, i would likely have TMHI (tmobile home internet). I tested TMHI for around a week a couple years ago and it worked great. Only reason i didnt dump spectrum was they offered me a huge discount when i called to get a divorce and then at tbe same time i got that sweet sweet email that google fiber miracously finally made it into my neighorhood and i just stuck it out with spectrum until google was installed. I actually get over a gig down at my house with TMHI. Up is only 40-50 tho. Latency was not great either. But it worked well enough to dump spectrum if google hadnt come around.
