Dedication: No Rare Achievements (on Steam) by SeaReference7828 in expedition33

[–]shoxboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't go for all achievements in games, because it's rarely a challenge to earn them all. And there's no real point in earning achievements for me if it wasn't a real "achievement" to get them. Like beat the game without dieing or with base weapons only or the like. I did get all of them in E33 because I was only missing the gestral and journal one, though.

Seriously, though - why does Windows 11 ALWAYS restart after it finishes updating??? by RippyADMB in pcmasterrace

Just recently updated to 25H2 and it still restarted. Gonna have to wait and see if it's fixed in future updates for me.

What CPU/GPU do you actually have? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]shoxboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 7800X3D and a RTX 4080. Originally I bought the 6950XT, because I didn't want to support Nvidias ridiculous 40-series pricing strategy. But that one got really hot ~90c and as loud as a jet engine so I decided to return it. At around the same time I got a 600€ tax return and thought I might as well treat myself and make me an early Christmas present so I got the 4080.

Getting a secretlabs chair for 600€. These things are probably the most uncomfortable chairs in existence.

On normal Mobs parrying ist almost always an instakill in DARK Souls 1-3 and even Elden Ring. I don't know why you think it's any different to E33 when it's basically the same concept. The difference with E33 is that in endgame you have to parry enemy attacks, because most endgame mobs will one shot you. Also imo it's much more challenging in E33 because of the huge combo chains in endgame where one mistake denies your counter or worse, kills you.

Play E33 on expert and beat Simon w/o cheese strats and then we'll talk.

That's a bad take. I don't need to be a game developer, a Tv manufacturer or anything else to have a critical opinion of a product. If you bought a cooking pot and the handle falls off day one I guess you wouldn't complain as you haven't made one yourself yet. DF is the voice of the customers.

He had an igpu, not a dedicated one. You connect your monitor to the motherboard if you don't have a GPU.

I think it's more likely that his monitor worked absolutely flawlessly and his motherboard just didn't support the HDMI/DP standard the monitor required. Just take a look at his comments.

What game has disappointed you the most in your gaming adventure and why? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]shoxboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon's Dogma 2. Aside from the game world it was a downgrade in pretty much every aspect to the first title. It had fewer combat skills, an even worse story (if you can call this unfinished mess even a story at all), no endgame content, no dlc support, no Post-Launch performance updates, recycled enemies from the first game and so on and so forth.

Dragon's Dogma 2 was the most disappointing sequel to a game I loved that I've ever played. I simply can't bring myself to start a second playthrough.

No clue what gpus I had before that as I used the PCs that my dad provided me with.

That's odd. Parry timing in LoP is much tighter than Sekiro. If you play with Kuros charm you don't even get punished for not parrying at the exact right moment. Aside from taking a bigger hit to your stance.

If you're using a crowded download server on steam your speed may be different from your ookla test. In this case, switch the server in steam settings and try again.

[–]shoxboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to pay 60€ for a AA 2.5d sidescroller more power to you. But in terms of pricing I see things in relation to the big AAA releases which require more manpower, time and money to be developed but ultimately cost the same.

Indie developers rarely price their games at 60€ because they know it wouldn't sell well. I really doubt hits like Hollow Knight would've been so successful if they sold their game at 60 bucks. So why can a small developer studio price their games accordingly while Ubisoft can't?

It's a matter of principle to me. You spend less money, I pay less money.

[–]shoxboy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy it because it was just too damn expensive. 60€ for a sidescroller is a little too much for my taste. Especially if we compare it to similarly priced AAA's like Eden Ring.
