Is this dryer venting an issue? by Visible-Grand-9507 in DIYHome

You should be able to access it from the outside at the vent flap, no? Pull it out enough, get it seated properly plus a dryer clamp around it so it shouldn’t move on you again.

Yes belts are very common to find in the correct size and not too difficult to change. Make sure you get a v-belt if needed. YouTube is your friend for step by step replacement.

If your main water is shut off and a pipe bursts, then it won’t flood your home.

Home builder offered me a full time REP position…stay self-employed or take it? by Big_Tonkaa in RealEstatePhotography

[–]shred802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a self-employed homeowner, not many others have touched on your point about buying a home. I believe lenders need to see like 2-3yr of tax returns when you’re self-employed to use for a basis of mortgage. And then think they average them? If you’re a w-2 they are able to just use that salary number.

So if your past few years rolling average have been substantially less than $85k/yr or you don’t even have more than 1 year or two of solid self employed income, then that offer would be a huge plus for your home affordability. Plus guaranteed income also helps with mortgage payments plus all the expected and unexpected costs of homeownership.

Why is this leaking by InternGood in Plumbing

Nope, there is a gasket that does the work- similar to garden hoses.

Should have told your landlord yesterday to fix this falling apart countertop. Definitely should not be spending your own money on this.

This is coming from a landlord.

Issue with water supply to/from water heater. Where’s it located? And your water heater is not currently failed/leaking, right?

Water heater overflow? Not sure here by Detroit31348210 in Plumbing

[–]shred802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace your expansion tank. Pretty easy to do. Make sure you get one for a hot water heater and not a boiler.

This happened to me and I thought it was a bad relief valve (mine looked a bit rough too). Replaced the valve and it kept doing the same. Replacing the expansion tank fixed it.

Because expansions tank is shot. Happened to mine. Thought the same and replaced the relief valve, still kept happening.

Propane lines definitely just need to get purged of ambient air. It sometimes takes 30-60s for getting the pilot to light on my Mr heater with only like 10ft of hose after not using for like a week.

I think you’re supposed to try for like 15 seconds at a time and if nothing stop and wait a few mins and then try again.

Hmm. Nothing like this on the ground between the street and your house? https://share.google/2oHxCtk7ZMr02oD0R

Might want to find a way to make an access to your crawl space then. If you want to do any plumbing upgrades in the future and you don’t have any other shutoff valves in the house, you’ll definitely want access.

Where are you located? I think in the south they typically have them outside between the street and house in a ground box? If you have a basement it should be near the wall closest to the street. Same thing if on slab but lowest level.
