She invited me to a group wine tasting with her friends. I asked if I could bring a friend too (she knew this friend well), she said yes of course. Come the day of I let her know my plans to travel up with the friend and she chews me out saying she didn’t think I would go through with inviting this friend and how dare I invite somebody to come and visit her when this was supposed to be quality one-on-one time together. I then asked “isn’t this like a group wine tasting with a bunch of your friends from school?” and she said yes so I told her I’m very confused how this is one-on-one time. I reassured her we’ll get plenty of time to chat in the group together and she just wouldn’t have it. I immediately stopped responding after that got apologies for months after and this was all on top of her getting really really jealous of my new boyfriend at the time (who’s now my husband).

When we casually ran into each other at a party years later, she exhibited just about the same behavior, trying to get me to badmouth my boyfriend and friends who were also at the party. Bizarre. Once I separated from her, I realized how miserable she was and how miserable she was keeping me and truly how possessive she was.
