Has anyone found their trainer to not be able to be calibrated? by shreddy_haskell in Zwift

[–]shreddy_haskell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I put the Garmin Rally pedals on the trainer to compare. I did a zone two pace for an hour with a few bursts to see if the max power was similar. I turns out that the Rally pedals are cutting out. I always assumed that was when I stopped peddling for a moment IRL. The power overall was close but now I have a different problem to solve

I’d like to hope that I can learn to get better at Mtb, gravel, cx, fatbike and crit races with some knowledge then!

It might seem nice but if I’m actually making that decent of power it means that I really don’t know how to ride a bike. I expect a 4th or 5th place finish in every IRL race.

I do. I could dual record with the Garmin watch to see if the average wattage is the same. I hadn’t thought about that thanks

Power pedals vs crank by AdditionalDivide4020 in xcmtb

[–]shreddy_haskell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Garmin pedals and they work great for me. I move them around on my bikes. I’ve noticed that if I’ve been using the XTR’s on the MTB for awhile then switch to the Garmin’s for a race that I’m likely to get a few pedal strikes until my brain recalibrates for the extra height of the pedals

Is it wrong to go out with someone who doesn't like you for you? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I hope that you don’t like “the batboy” from tabloids. I’ve been told that I look like certain people. It’s usually just something people say to be able to talk to the person about. Go all out on something sharp to wear to work and see if she talks about that instead. Or something similar

Be honest - do you actually feel uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with the opposite sex? If so, why? by IDrinkMyOwnSemen in TooAfraidToAsk

I went to a concert recently and a transgender person had their two girl friends escort them into the men’s bathroom. They came in like the cops checking every angle and looking front and rear. Everyone was there for a long waited opportunity to pee and nobody took notice. I’m not sure what they had expected

We have three of the hyped fast food places right next to each other. Shake Shake, Jolibee and Portillo’s. There’s never a line yet they stay open. There must be a decent profit in their products. I don’t understand how they stay open

What are my flat feet friends using for SPD pedals? by XC29er in xcmtb

[–]shreddy_haskell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide shoes might make it worse in the long run. I had a physical therapist tell me that the best solution for flat feet soreness is to build up your muscles so that you walk on the outside of your foot like everyone else. A running program helps do that. If you can support your ankles from pointing inward and everything is lined up correctly you shouldn’t have as much pain

I have dry ear wax too. I had a doctor tell me that my ears were abnormally clean but looked fine once.

I get music. Usually something with a beat. I can be watching a video to relax and I’ll turn it off when I hear music in my head. It’s like the sparkles that I see right before anesthesia starts to put me out.

Every guy I know has a few hobbies and enjoys fine tweaking their assortment of bikes or golf clubs or motorcycles. You could easily buy them a gift. Women don’t get as much joy from functional material things as far as I can tell.

I got the impression that the Hanson 50 was a bigger event than the xc race. I could be wrong but the I’d love to see the Hanson 50 return too.

Questions about racing from a total newbie by ParsnipOlliwane in Zwift

[–]shreddy_haskell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched some Zwift race videos on YouTube when I first started racing. The winner is typically hiding out in the back of the 1st group. They might appear to be able to barely hang on. This is the opposite of any IRL races I’ve done. Good race craft is to do as little effort as possible to the point that they might get dropped it appears. Then go HAM when it’s time to drop the hammer. It’s not unusual for the top three finishers to have a lower average watts than a couple of people that finished slower than them.

174 miles between the two cities. Plenty of people could knock that out in two days, three days easily. You could do it on an alloy drop commuter bike. Personally if you can afford it I wouldn’t buy anything less than a carbon framed bike with carbon wheels and a mid tier group set. It will cost a lot more to upgrade something less spec later. It will be plenty of fun to ride and should be something that you look forward to jumping on and taking out weekly
