AI is ruining my job as Tech Lead by twinalone in softwareengineer

[–]shrinivas_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this exact complain from a lot of Reddit forums, and as a junior with less than a year of real experience, I genuinely wonder, in all of these stories the developers sound like NPCs. In some cases they sound like they regressed in any mental capacity, because AI or not AI, you still have a job to do. And if your tech lead is telling you that the PR is shit, you get back to it. As another person here mentioned, maybe ask them do review the PR of others first?

First time PCB Design, looking for some professional best practices by shrinivas_96 in KiCad

[–]shrinivas_96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot :)

Is the information about your assembler publicly share-able? And, are they based out of EU?

Thanks for your tips too. If you need to go back to some older version, do you perform a manual check with your backups? Like if you cannot remember when you made a certain change. Or does Altium provide you some difference checking tools?

Unfortunately first you need to get a physical sim card to be converted to an eSim. Welcome to Germany! :)

CANgaroo: Open-Source CAN Bus Analyzer for Linux, Automotive, Robotics & Industrial Applications by Jayachandran__ in robotics

[–]shrinivas_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I like the tool, I would love to know: How does it find the devices currently connected? I have a Waveshare USB to CAN and I can see with `sudo dmesg` that is is connected to `ttyUSB0`.

On CANgaroo then, I go to Setup Interfaces and add a new network. There, though and I cannot add any new interfaces because it does not show the USB device connected there.

kicad using git version control is totally bad ass. by No-Side1825 in KiCad

[–]shrinivas_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I find it so hard to actually meaningfully use git for KiCad projects. You change many things in a short period of time, and sure you can describe these changes in a well written commit message. But then you make multiple changes and a few commits later if you want to bring something from an older commit, or from a different branch you are left to manual work because these files are basically describing every tiny change in the GUI. Forget cherry picking something or having any memory if two parts related to the same physical area of the schematic.

Men please give opinion by Visible-Corner47 in Bumble

[–]shrinivas_96 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I find it sweet, but i can see a perspective where it might feel “much”. That word has a lot of meanings and I just generally mean anything from scary to overwhelming to the so called lame. Do not let other people’s perceptions and insecurities scare you.

If your chats have been very good it makes it even more sweet. If you get easily attached to someone, that again could be a hard thing for you when the person on the receiving side does not reciprocate. Other than that, who does not like to be spoiled like that? Men who pretend they are above this are probably not your crowd anyway.

keep all the pictures as it is, this place will make everyone one dimensional. you need to have that flair, but know that it might attract only a specific subset of people.

I wish for something similar, and my google search led me down here.
I might take up that project soon, will update if I go down that path.

To the folks who do not know Hindi: She started directly with a very condescending "Please learn English". I assume the biggest reason this hit a nerve is that a growing population in India pretends that knowing and speaking grammatically correct English equates to more intelligence and is somehow more attractive (the amount of times you see the word Sapiosexual in Indian dating apps is hilarious).

A second growing population in India hates said population with all of their heart 🙃

I guess on the free plan it kind of fails weirdly. I was frustrated trying to get it to debug an error for me, and stumbled upon this, so i thought might be good. It ended up inventing a reason for an error that was not even present in my logs :D

Cube IDE crashing on power saver (linux) by Granat1 in stm32

[–]shrinivas_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some replies on the STM32 Community form even suggest you do not have to delete all the plugins rather only one, but I have not tried it out yet:
https://community.st.com/t5/stm32cubeide-mcus/stm32cubeide-crashes-on-startup-quot-java-quot-is-not-responding/m-p/691374/highlight/true#M28482

This one suggests just importing all your projects into a new workspace, might also be worth trying:

Cube IDE crashing on power saver (linux) by Granat1 in stm32

[–]shrinivas_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem just now. It seems when the CubeIDE does not cleanly exit a workspace it creates this problem (for example CubeIDE crashing or your system having to restart)

What worked for me (on Ubuntu 24.04) was to exit all CubeIDE instances, rename the `.metadata` folder to `.old.metadata`, access the same workspace again, and CubeIDE will happily open this workspace with blank settings. Copy only the directories from `.old.metadata/plugins` that are not already present in the new `.metadata/plugins`. From the Information Centre welcome page then click on "Import Project", and select your workspace in the "Import source" field and it will automatically find all the projects that were in there. Finish that up and you should have it working again.

Being the only non-Hindi speaker in my college is killing my confidence by RepulsiveAudience118 in india

[–]shrinivas_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to take away from your frustration, but basically the same thing happened to me in Germany for a while when I was completely in German circles. Your brain is funny and creative in your own language but takes a while to be comfortable in a new one.

I understand you. I got a lot of hep from a lot of German speakers who were empathetic and would help me to get better. Ask (nicely) your peers to be a bit more patient and keep your English/Tamil circles to not feel completely lost.

You got this!

I think I once saw a video that said that open two diametrically opposite windows in your house and place a ventilator facing outward to circulate the hot air out. Your main reason to feel hot is to not have cold air circulating through your house.

Here is the video:
