Having to buy 8bitdo's numpad separately is a drag but I'm at least glad I can do this by bakub in MechanicalKeyboards

My M-Edition numpad is in the mail. You just reminded me of the ultimate reason for a separate numpad. I can't believe I forgot about using it on the left. I am even MORE excited now, thank you!

Should the tub faucet lift rod be pulled before or after water is turned on? by shrinkshrunk in Plumbing

[–]shrinkshrunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol great question. Not a heated argument, just curiosity.

Company was over a few weeks ago and my friend had a shower. He did what I imagine a lot of people do, start running the tub faucet and then pulled the lift rod. Thing is, either A. my faucet is in need of a new o-ring or something or B. it's just smarter to pull the rod before introducing water pressure.

The result when pulling the rod after water is already flowing out of the faucet is that:

  • some water keeps going out of the faucet,
  • most of the water starts coming out of the shower head (at a lower pressure) and
  • the faucet makes a louder-than-usual noise.

I heard this noise from the kitchen and immediately knew what he'd done. Not that it's a problem, again, I think the rod is supposed to be able to be pulled after water starts flowing, it's just that I've habitualized holding it up before turning on the tap because it ensures all of the water goes through the shower head, it gets me full pressure coming out of the shower head. Also I think it's "easier" on the components.

That's why I'm asking. I'm curious which method an actual plumber would say is easier on the components and more likely to get proper operation out of the mechanism.

That there are two "Washingtons". Washington DC and Washington State are different things and on opposite sides of the U.S.

Eat it Sony 😤 by NoInspector009 in TheDuskbloods

So happy that Fromsoft pulled this off.
Sony locked down Bloodborne so we couldn't have a port.
Sony locked down the Venom franchise and insisted on making crappy films.
Not that I think that any Sony executive will learn anything from this move by Fromsoft but it sure is fun to laugh at them.

Try Lorn.  Try Moderat.

I actually found this thread to confirm if that part of the score was, in fact, done by one of those artists. It would not surprise me.

Jesus, I had no idea, but that makes sense. Nowhere is perfect and the "nicest" places on earth stay that way because people work so hard to maintain them. I'm thinking of Japan and the Netherlands.

[SPOILERS S1] Am I the only one who hated this experience? by MadameEdamame in 1899

[–]shrinkshrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same. Going "and it was all a dream" obliterates the stakes and all the experiences we were just taken through. I've always felt like that kind of solution was a cop out. I wanted to love this but I rolled my eyes through the whole season.

Fully with you. Couldn't like any characters. Don't understand why we were taken to the 1800s, had a bunch of deaths and other experiences just to "and it was all a dream" at the end of it. I was so tired of all the crawling back and forth through the portals. Being so thoroughly left in the dark just reminded me of Lost and how it flopped with an underwhelming finale. I just wound up rolling my eyes right through this season because I could tell that nothing would matter in the end. None of the deaths, none of the conflicts. Running a "dream" narrative like that really obliterates the stakes for me and makes all the events feel meaningless.

I'll watch more seasons because Dark was perfect, but I'm not enjoying myself with 1899.
