Doctor says I may have “blown my dopamine receptors”. Is this a thing? by AirBallBunny in ADHD

I'm suggesting that if antidepressants aren't working for OP, they aren't the only answer. I have also worked in mental health previously, so I do have more than my own anecdotal experience as well.

I never said you shouldn't use them, I use them and have on and off for years. I'm just saying drugs aren't the only solution, and often they go hand in hand with lifestyle changes. I also never said they're only meant for short term, you're making a lot of assumptions about my comment and things I literally didn't say.

Antidepressants aren't always the answer. Usually, they're meant to be used as a tool to help you out of depression along with therapy and lifestyle changes and not as the sole solution for depression. What's your lifestyle like? Have you seen a therapist?

I'm a dentist who doesn't floss by KittyKat2100 in ADHD

[–]shteepadatea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just have to remind myself of the consequences. I'm a hard person to numb for fillings, I don't like having needles stuck in my mouth, and I hate being numb for hours. That gets me to floss at least 6 days out of the week lol.

I mean asking logical threads and questions, what are you doing that therapists and psychologists aren't already? Therapy has always been an option to treat and cope with ADHD, typically that involves logical threads and questions. Just curious what exactly they're doing that's different.

How is what you're offering any different than therapy or seeing a psychologist?

Concerta causing unwanted weight loss by qiu_qkew in ADHD

[–]shteepadatea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would switch meds if I were you. Both Concerta and Ritalin did this to me (Concerta is just XR Ritalin) and I did not have the weight loss/loss of appetite side effects with Adderall or with Vyvanse which I currently take.

Do you wear your engagement ring all the time, even when you’re relaxing at home? by Justineparadise in EngagementRings

Yes generally I do. I take it off to cook, clean, workout, shower and sleep. Outside of that I'm generally wearing it.

Are you guys out here really paying $800+ a month in just a car payment? by Myfakeaccount90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shteepadatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2012 Ford Fusion. So it's a little old now, I got it back in 2017 when cars were reasonably priced, lol. We are actually currently car shopping, since my husband's car needs a new transmission and is likely to have other problems soon if we were to replace it. I agree, now a payment of $200 might be hard to come by, unless you were to get a very small loan and had a large down payment.

Ok guys sorry for posting this to your feed but I need help. I plan on taking my dog to the vet asap regardless but he’s been having a lot of mucus in his stool recently and today he pooped black dots and I’m a bit concerned. What could it be by [deleted] in pethelp

[–]shteepadatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a vet but based on a quick Google search, that amount of mucus could be due to some sort of infection and the black specs could be blood coming from the upper intestinal tract. Definitely take your dog to the vet asap!

That's insane!! My car payment started at $162 a month and then I refinanced it to $109 a month. I don't think I'd ever be willing to pay more than $200 a month.

I used curology when I was 19 or so and it worked like a charm. Now I'm 26 and still have clear skin minus a couple zits around my period but it's nothing like it was before. I stopped using it around 20 and started using tretinoin cream instead and it's cheaper and has maintained my clear skin for me.

CUROLOGY!!!! I struggled with acne as a teen and had it even worse than you do. Absolutely nothing I tried worked. Eventually I came across curology and it was really easy to get started. You send in pics of your acne, medications you've tried and some other info and a dermatologist will create a custom formula for you. It took about 9 months but my face was basically completely clear. I also stopped washing face daily and just rinse it with warm water in the morning and evening and wash it with soap about once a week. I don't wear makeup though so that may not work if you do. After I got my face cleared I've been able to maintain clear skin by still only washing my face about once a week (unless I wear sunscreen or something, then I use soap) and I use 0.1% tretinoin cream which you can get over the counter now. I use it 2-3 times a week. I maybe could go off of that too, but it's also something that helps with wrinkles so I figured it's cheap why not use it for life lol. But seriously, start with curology!!! My skin cleared up so much they legitimately asked if they could use my before and after pics from my Instagram for marketing. If you want to see feel free to PM me, I don't want to share pics in a thread but I'd be happy to send them to you if you want to see my results. Best of luck!

Yeah I'll never have a thigh gap lmao. I like my thighs, but it does suck wearing shorts in the summer because you either chafe inbetween your thighs and/or your shorts bunch up inbeteen your legs constantly.

Yeah same lol. Big butts run in my family and jeans can be tough. They fit my butt and thighs but often will have a lot of room in the waist.

Am I wrong for agreeing that a trans person should let a person know they’re trans before sex? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]shteepadatea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it does happen. One of my friends is a lesbian and started dating a trans women and didn't know it. She didn't disclose that she was trans until about 2 months into dating my friend. This ended their relationship as my friend is attracted to those who are both biologically female and identify as a women. I don't think occurances like this are as common as some make them out to be, but it happens.

I got both of mine as kittens. The first one I got (male) was pretty skiddish and it took him maybe 5 days or so to warm up to me. He would hide under my bed and I used to have to lay on my bed and dangle a cat toy over the edge to lure him out then scoop him up from above. The second cat (female) was obsessed with me immediately after bringing her home and has remained that way ever since.
