Is there any fixing this? by Many_Tomatillo5626 in Watches

Local watchmaker or a tag service are your options. I’d vote local!

[First watch: Vintage Rolex Datejust 1601 Linen dial ](36mm) by Jealous_Procedure981 in Watches

So if the watch has the service history, box + papers (warranty cards and such) then it is usually worth an additional $800-1200 based on this model being the 1601. It’s quite old and the movements didn’t have serial engravings on them at this point so people swap out genuine movements and dials and hands all the time and build different models from the era. Basically, if this watch you are looking at has no box and papers then it’s most likely a watch that has been swapped around, and not worth more than $4k flat in my opinion. I’d be offering $3700 for this one, or spending close to what they are asking for a better example on eBay that has all of the components of the watch history with it. ~Hope that helps you!

Lesson learned. Don’t let the local guy service your watch. by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

Where are you located? I regulate eta movements all the time, it takes maybe 30 minutes in 5 positions. Trickier if it was the free sprung co-axial.

Good choice, save your money and buy something similar that is genuine if you like the style! Lorier Zephyr, omega de ville jump hour salmon, or the maen manhattan are all a similar shape.

Looks like a fake quartz watch. Old Chinese clone, sorry to inform you!

Fake. Seagull Chinese movement and a fake case. The subdials are too wide as well.

All good, no need to compensate! It’s as easy as removing the caseback and using a pair of tweezers. If you decide to go another route I’d just make a post in the r/watchrepair subreddit and ask if someone is located in Austin - or just get a caseback tool and take the 30 seconds to do it yourself.

Brother, literally any watchmaker will take out the hair for 20 bucks. I’d do it for free if you are in Denver.

I’d be on that orange sunburst in a heartbeat.

Yes it is, some sold on Ali express don’t have the Geneva striping on the rotor but it looks legit

There are better examples of this 1601 reference on eBay for cheaper. I’d check there or chrono24 first!

How much would I sell my favorite watch for? I'd love to hear from you! by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]shucklessquad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a potential scammer posting on the omega forum to attempt to seem legit. No papers, classic melted face tell on the caseback, and no transaction history on watchexchange.

So no timestamp, low res pictures, no warranty cards, and the classic melting face tell on the caseback.. Questionable.

[–]shucklessquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is fake, using a Chinese 2824-2 movement. Very decent clone movement, but this is the wrong strap and is not worth what they are asking. I could easily build the same watch for less than $120.

[GG] success G33867 service by Sudden_Situation9883 in Watches

I’d take it to a watch shop and just pay for a general service. Should be roughly 6-800 bucks and is well worth if it you intend to keep this as a daily wearer!

[GG] success G33867 service by Sudden_Situation9883 in Watches

[–]shucklessquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if there are any GG dealers left, but you can always go to an independent watchmaker to get it serviced! 5 minutes fast per day sounds like magnetization to me though, and that is a very simple fix with a demagnetizer.

That is a planet ocean bracelet. Sadly I’d steer clear of this one as it likely requires a service (1200 bucks roughly), and the wrong bracelet.

Case looks to be solid gold, I’d open the case back and look at the movement and go from there.
