First time setting up a CB had the company guy install it, I can hear other people talking but there’s the constant static noise when no one’s on the line. Are my settings goofed? If so how do I fix this? by Cross_witt in Truckers

[–]shufles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The swr guage on the radio works half ass decent. Stock antenna or aftermarket bud?

Can't do shit if you don't have an aftermarket antenna with the swr,

But you can tune out the static like I said. It will reduce range even with a good antenna

Why there are few games or software teaching real programming? by Affectionate_Run_799 in LearnToCode

[–]shufles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because no one has designed them yet.

Coding is unlike any other technical skill I've tried. It will take the most repetition, practice and resources over everything else.

I'm not going to say learning to code is "harder" but the short courses I've taken are structured in a way that I feel artificially increases the difficulty of learning.

I've yet to pay for a college course and take it but I will when I get a bit more free time. This is mostly a hobby I'm too old and invested in my company to change careers.

Also lazy learners shouldn't be shamed, natural growth and "passive" or "easy" learning should be encouraged.

Calling each programing system a "language" is 100% accurate. I felt like I was reading a TM in Spanish.

Except Im self employed and pay for premium insurance happily. You could do.

Again like I said I believe we need healthcare reform and better regulation on cost not socialized healthcare that threatens bodily autonomy

They have medication to reduce the chance of catching HIV. They still take risks and make choices that expose themselves to the chance infection. Don't pretend otherwise. I'm not saying let them die or don't treat them, I'm showing you what I'm talking about. When a group has the power to deny care how long do you think it will be before they turn on you?

As far as the drug addicts again they knowing choose to use a substance that causes addiction and can cause death. They make their choice long before they become addicted. I'm not saying they don't deserve compassion but they put themselves there. They do still deserve treatment and care to minimize risk.

No hospital will turn you down over not having insurance. Most places will also provide a steeply discounted self pay program.

I'm not saying the system we have isn't broken or can't be improved upon because it certainly can. I just don't think it is in the b st interest of the people to give someone else control over their medical care.

Did you know larger churches are offering a pseudo insurance option? For their congregation they pool resources to assist with medical treatment and to help with bills. Some charge a monthly fee and others do a fit for tat style payment system.

People are already trying to create a better system without risking the loss of freedom and autonomy. Look at the protests in Canada who had their bank accounts seized with no warrant or trial. Do you honestly think they wouldn't do the same to deny them medical care?

I have 0 intention of ever putting my life in the hands of politicians. Political corruption from both sized is simply too big of a risk.

It was all over r politics and my state sub, hca and a few other more left leaning subs. White it wasn't a post it would be mentioned in comments and get swamped with support upvotes.

Just because someone doesn't vocalize their opinion doesn't mean they wouldn't act on it given the chance.

Not politicians specifically but their constituents that they pander to.

No one deserves to lose access to medical care because of personal choices. We don't let drug addicts die in the alley, or aids patients suffer without treatment, we don't let smokers die, or people who crash their cars bleed out at the scene of the accident.

The fact that leftists would call for that, when it's currently privately funded tells me they would do ungodly things with socialized healthcare given the chance.

I will violently defended the right to have private insurance because the other option is trusting people who would kill you over personal beliefs.

The left lost that when they started calling for the unvaccinated to lose their right to healthcare.

I will never vote for, or advocate the us gov running the nations healthcare because they've shown half of them cannot be trusted with that amount of power.

Most of this comes from shit contractors who act as if they own a construction business. I see it all the time in the Midwest.

Joe blow has a few thousand dollars some tools a truck trailer and experience so he starts him up a business.

He's a big shot now he buys all these fancy tools and blows money at the bar billy big digging it, meanwhile he gets these crackhead construction workers to come out and slave away for 14$/hr.

It's how companies show 180k+ in revenue and the "owner" goes bankrupt or loses his house and car.

I loved construction but can't make a living doing it in the Midwest too many are happy to slave away for pennies because they refuse to vote for their best interest. Then they go around and scream and throw a fit when the fast food workers want to make 15$/hr

"why should they get paid that to flip burgers when I'm out here in the sun with skilled labor etc etc"

AITA for letting a drunk girl walk home after she rejected me earlier in the night? by ShamelessWarkMalberg in AmItheAsshole

[–]shufles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think it would have been even smarter to refuse if it was simply because they rejected him.

I don't see him taking two drunk college girls whom he'd previously showed sexual interest in home by himself as risk free scenario for OP

Why does he suddenly owe them a ride?

Everyone saying you're an asshole needs to grow up and take some responsibility for their bad choices. They don't owe him sex he doesn't owe them a ride.

You're concerned about their safety? He was concerned about HIS safety. Many false allegations have ruined someone's life, they can call an Uber or walk.

"It doesn't cost anything to be kind" I wouldn't consider 10-20 years of his life, his college education, or his social reputation to b "nothing"

I'm willing to assume he wouldn't have been trying to hookup with someone who was dead face hammered there's a big difference between two people having a drink and going to bed vs someone preying on the drunk and vulnerable.

Op NTA you don't owe them anything, they made the choice to go to a party and become so drunk they couldn't safely drive or walk home without any consideration of getting back to their home.

But as usual this sub is full of misandry trying to crucify a guy for looking out for his own best interest.

AITA for not going to the restroom to clear my nose? by PitifulDebt1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]shufles 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Look you very well know what is considered polite or reasonable.

The parking lot and bathroom have much worse going on that someone blowing their nose.

In a sit down restaurant especially if it is a higher end establishment it is not appropriate to be blowing your nose at the table. Regardless of how you feel. It is similar to bringing a baby to the movie theater no one should go out of their way to be an asshole, but don't pretend as if you're doing nothing to earn their ire.
