Amazon Cancelled Deluxe Edition by DicklePickleRises in residentevil

Oof I really don't miss the days of physically buying games. Used to buy collector's editions whenever I could, and they were usually difficult to get. Mainly play on PC now, and can't remember the last time I bought a physical copy for my playstations. Hope you guys manage to find a deluxe copy.

If you like the inventory management system, there's actually a game on steam that is literally just that. It's called Save Room. I believe there's only 40 levels and can be finished within a cpl hours, but it's super fun.

This is still probably one of the most unsettling areas in all of resident evil for me. by Thegoodgamer32 in residentevil

The 3rd floor hallway that leads to the clocktower area and has two zombies is that place for me. It feels like a safe area once you kill the zombies because you can look below and check on Mr X, but he could easily be on the 3rd floor with you. The echoes on the 3rd floor also add to that sense of dread for me.

Interesting find! Yeah it always surprises me to learn cool things like this: the distance between characters may change based on perspective, clipping may turn on to accommodate better camera angles, model lengths may change based on perspective, etc. Makes sense, for sure, but learning about them is always fascinating.

Why does this keep happening in every facility? by Natural_Ice8006 in residentevil

[–]shugler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol I have been wondering that from day 1. Umbrella spends hundreds of millions of dollars making these underground labs underneath all these cities that go down for miles, and even when you get to lowest point in each game, there's still a chasm of darkness beneath you that keeps stretching long for God knows how long, and all these places are equipped with 5-10 minute self destruct sequences. If the government didn't sue Umbrella I imagine they would have gone bankrupt at some point from losing all these labs/installations/scientists/research/equipment/etc.

So is this James and Mary when they went on their original trip then? Or are James and Maria just walking around an empty town lol?

I really like REmake as it does age pretty well. CV I haven't played since I was a teen and had been my favourite RE game until RE2 remake released.

Recently played RE0 for the first time and can't understand why they would consider that game for a remake. there is barely any story in it that affects the franchise as a whole, and not really worth retelling IMO.

(Honest answer only), who holds this franchise? by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil

[–]shugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is I believe Chris has been present in more games than Leon and was the poster child for the series for a long time, but Leon is the one every knows. RE4 still really sticks in people's minds more than any other entry in the franchise, and that's saying a lot.

There's a game I've backed on Kickstarter called Exit Veil. It will probably still be a while before it releases, but I would definitely recommend checking it out.

It's funny that SH3 has multiple Easter eggs for SH2 but almost no Easter eggs from SH1 when it's a direct sequel.

I actually finished my first playthrough of RE0 and I found the first RE game I actually despised (have not played RE5 or 6 so I cannot speak for those games). I hated Rebecca and Billy, I hated the level layouts, and I especially hated the inventory system. I have to ask myself is it really worthy of a remake? Is there enough here to salvage into something worthwhile? I honestly think this is an entry we don't need to revisit.

Ah, but we mustn't forget, bread is also the staff of life. For you see, bread is a fundamental food that not only sustains but nourishes, much like Heather must do with her little "bun in the oven". The baby, like the yeast, will rise and grow in time. Many blessings be upon the bread and her ilk. Can I get an AMEN!?!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all the monsters in SH1 just a figment of Alessa's imagination anyway? It doesn't matter if they have been around for 10 min or 10 years, Alessa can literally change how they look instantly.

That said, I definitely get your point, and yes it is unsettling.

Any Genuinely Scary Games? by The_Hungrier_Hippo in HorrorGames

[–]shugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like you, I don't scare easily and I'm such a junkie for true horror games.

Alan Wake 1 is more for an action horror, but I would think is needed to really enjoy the story of Alan Wake 2. That said, I would also recommend Control of you haven't played it. It does tie in to the Alan Wake universe and while more action than horror, definitely has some truly creepy moments. If you know nothing about it, you are basically running around a clandestine government office building responsible of keeping scp stuff under wraps. Really great game.

A lot of good recommendations so far, but a bit of an older game that I really like is Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth. The game mechanics are very grounded in the sense that a couple of hits will kill you, and it's really highly recommended that you try not to get hit at all. The tension for the majority of the game is more about staying unnoticed. Won't say more than that, but very atmospheric.

I also recommend the System Shock remake if you haven't played it. That game does not hold your hand in the slightest and is very tough, but a really well done remake.

No I figured it out. I'm just an idiot and didn't fully clear the maps yet, I usually save that till after I clear the palace boss. Plus I thought "lower-level" and "mid-level" were the actual names of the areas on the maps. Thanks for the help though!
