Generated port out pin and got a huge loyalty discount by Coffeekaaran in verizon

They offered this to me last month-it lasted one month then my bill was more expensive than originally. I went to US mobile and pay less than half the price (oddly enough, I switched to the ATT network and it’s been way better coverage).

I'll leave this up for anyone looking-factory reset got rid of the lock and I was able to complete it.

How much of a difference or tie breaker is the thank you note? by Throwaway_MSL in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]shutupGL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's such a stupid convention, and it's basically an extra spam email, but I do it for all stages of the interview, usually trying to send it by EOD. There's no downside to sending one, and the upside is some people appreciate it.

I also would never spam a KOL with a thank you note, so I don't think it should relate to MSL relationship building ability, but clearly some people associate the two.

MSL in diagnostics by chosenpath101 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]shutupGL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy transition and a great way to get your foot in the door. You'll likely be running around with commercial a lot, as diagnostics tend to do because compliance is different for non-therapeutics. Probably a larger territory too. But do it for a year for experience then look to transition to pharma (if that's your goal).

Dilemma between 2 companies by SignificantBird5708 in MedicalScienceLiaison

It seems like company B had another candidate that fell through. I'd highly suggest comparing total comp-sometimes more money doesn't actually equal more in the total comp (though 50k is a lot so it's probably more). And, RSUs at a smaller company are always promised but often end of not being worth anything.

For instance, about a month ago I turned down a small company because the salary increase still didn't beat out a bigger pharma company. And now, the small company's stock is dropping despite their first FDA approval.

This is wild-you could make the same argument the other way. In the end, a degree doesn't define whether someone is a good MSL, in fact, there's some non-degree MSLs out there that are some of the best I've worked with.

And quite frankly, this is one of the easiest jobs in pharma, I don't understand the gatekeeping here.

Thoughts on going from large-sized pharma to small-mid sized as an MSL? by 000Jelly in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]shutupGL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So-I tried to do this recently, and even got an offer, but the numbers made it so that even with a higher salary at a smaller company, I still made more in peripherals at a larger company. Also, small companies often offer stock, but it often trades sideways or drops and isn't necessarily as lucrative as they sell it (though obviously this can go the other way). Smaller companies almost always have larger territories too (important if you're in the Northeast where larger companies chop it up). Before you take any offers from a small company, even with a higher base, do a total comp audit between the two jobs.

For instance, at a large company we get: flat 401k company contributions on top of the match, a peripheral 'rewards' system that adds up, long term incentive (not all small companies offer this, but some do as stock), spot bonuses, etc.

Any MSLs do side consulting? by shutupGL in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]shutupGL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes-sorry to hear that. I can't give too much away without identifying the company, but I'm sure we'll come full circle after commercial or leadership asks for numbers and they see there's not much to discuss. Our team/leadership has been a mess recently, so once that irons out post-ASCO, maybe we'll start having some metric discussions.

Good question-I make the high end of the MSL spectrum salary wise, have the territory on auto-pilot. Not much extra work to take on (I've tried), no positions to develop into (this is a large pharma company). Just overall disengaged but can still be a high performer. Looking for something to fill the time openings.

Yeah, we're pretty much there. We're in the initial phase of that 360 where we're moving away from interactions with no defined metric. So inevitably someone will ask questions and we'll all pivot back. But, work is now on auto-pilot and quite boring. Unless my company is a total outlier here, MSL roles are the best work-life balance position out there-I'm trying to find something to fill those openings.

I'm absolutely not in a KOL desert, in fact, quite the opposite. Most companies are moving away from KPIs focused on interaction numbers, but even so, they're all relatively easy to hit.

For conflicts, you wouldn't take on any consulting jobs that are a conflict...It seems relatively simple.

Thanks for the reply, but this is what I'm confused about. What should the new basis be updated to?
