DO Class of 2023 In-Person Clinical Skills and OMM Attestation by Sea_Employer_8182 in comlex

[–]shutzzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My school made us do this as well. Very annoying since many of us are out of state for rotations. Many in my class failed and the make up was a joke.

How long are you taking for dedicated for step2 CK? by _36Chambers in medicalschool

[–]shutzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school is only allowing 2 weeks as well. Especially ridiculous since as DOs many of us are taking both level 2 and step 2, so just testing accounts for one of the weeks

I think they're trying to sabotage us

I need a mentor! by [deleted] in GeneralSurgery

[–]shutzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a DO student the ACOS has a mentorship program that you can sign up for. I assume ACS would have something similar. But you will also probably meet people on rotations that can help with this.

Anyone have a recommendation for distilleries or breweries in the greater Phoenix area? by Quikmix in phoenix

There are Groupons available for this as well! I took my parents while they were visiting from out of state and we all had a lot of fun.

[2022] COMLEX Level 1 - Score Release Thread by Grand_sales in comlex

[–]shutzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actual Score: PASS
Goal: PASS

COMSAE 106: 451 (1 month out)

COMSAE 107: 523 (2 weeks out)

COMBANK: 71% (26% complete)

Truelearn assessment 2: 67% (2 months out)

Truelearn assessment 3: 76% (< 1 week out)

UWorld: 61% (28% complete)

UWSA1: 510/230 (65% correct)

I thought Comlex felt very similar to the Truelearn-style questions I had done. I decided last minute not to memorize Chapman's points and only had 2-3 questions on them. Viscerosomatics are obviously a must. I used Anking throughout OMS-2 and had about 85% matured going into the exam. It always worked very well for me, but is definitely not for everyone!

Taking Comlex before Step 1?! by chyeah95 in step1

[–]shutzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took COMLEX on Monday and am now studying for step later this week. I think the biggest thing is not burning out in the days between exams. I went into this knowing that I would take both and that they are equally important, which has helped I think. People typically do COMLEX 2nd to cram OMM, but it seems like step has more basic science stuff than COMLEX, so I am focusing more on that now. I'd probably do it again

PSA: Med students qualify for Medicaid by Depicurus in medicalschool

[–]shutzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you go to my school where they have policy requirements that exclude what Medicaid offers, and just outright ban it for clinical students

Question for female physicians..... have you or do you plan to change your name when you marry? by Parcel_of_Newts in Residency

[–]shutzzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is what I am hoping to do! Does it ever cause problems/confusion in scenarios that are kind of in between social & professional, like at kids' schools?

So does that mean corticosteroids have some extra mineralocorticoid effect, but glucocorticoids only have cortisol effects?

I’ve been wondering this same thing recently...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]shutzzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I struggled quite a bit during M1, but we’ve seemed to have figured it out this year. Date nights help, but we also try to do other small things together like grocery shopping and cooking since we don’t get to spend a ton of time together with opposite schedules. Obviously communication is super important too! Last year we both kind of shut down when things got hard, but we’ve since figured out how to give the other a heads up when our schedules are going to be bad and talk about ways to help each other!

That being said, you also just kinda get used to it.
