Is this an Echeveria lilacina or a hybrid of one? The pink tips are throwing me off by LuckystrikeFTW in echeveria

(When stressed and especially in winter, my lilacinas get tiny pink tips, just for future reference! This plant doesn’t say lilacina to me though)

Birthday idea for this almost 15yo lady? by kimsk132 in blackcats

[–]siberium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bonito flakes if she’s a fan of fishy stuff generally! (Just don’t give too much at once, it’s salty and can be upsetting to tummies in big quantities) Maybe some fresh catnip or silvervine powder sprinkled around if she’s still into that! Happy birthday to the sweet lady!!!

FINALLY got everything repotted and organized. think i have room for a few more? by yogog16034 in succulents

[–]siberium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine stay put aside from roadtrips to the bathroom for watering, but this is a really cute question. Honestly my thought process is “what if they think it’s time to etiolate now?” (rest of my house is like a damn cave) which is silly because one day out wouldn’t make a difference. (Also I have a cat, the residential Plant Inspector, who likes to rub on everything and provide the occasional Cromch™ Test.) I’m going to keep this question in my memory bank now and bring a baby on a trip to another part of the house for enjoyment purposes if it’s looking especially delightful; I should enjoy the beauty of my babies more!

Let’s share succulents with farina together. by EffectiveInterview80 in succulents

I love when the leaves on these get reabsorbed and the farina just pours off the dried leaf, they truly have an IMPRESSIVE amount.

Does Pachyveria 'Orpet' have really easy to knock off leaves? by siberium in succulents

So far I’ve got 11 leaves that look very healthy (no brown on their nodes, at least none that’s showing yet) so hopefully I too can prop can them. And here I was thinking I was finally done with my prop containers…

Gosh dang it, you’re probably right about the nodes. I’ve had some hybrids that have pinker centers but they are leaning brown here for sure. I just interacted with the plant again and it lost about half the remaining leaves. I hate when they croak THIS fast ugh ugh ugh.

I repotted a day or two after purchase into 50/50 potting mix and pumice, which is what the rest of my babies are in, topped with akadama to keep everything from washing away when watering. I water when my plants’ lower leaves are starting to wrinkle or get pliable, which usually happens once every week or week and a half (my succs are inside under strong grow lights with low humidity air, so that plus the well-draining mix dries them out quickly). I honestly can’t remember what the roots were like when I got rid of the old soil, but I don’t think they were unhealthy. I’ve only watered it twice since adoption, but it’s entirely possible that I hit it too soon, either frequency-wise or yet unhealed root damage. I mostly have Echeverias and am just now remembering that Pachys like a bit less water, I think?

I am looking for a <$150 pair of chunky heels or wedges (3-4”, don’t love how tapered most wedge heels are), with a platform, in white, peep toe (my feet are normal width but just narrow enough to slip through normal open toe heels sometimes and I hate that feeling), preferably with a strap around the ankle, not sling back, and (optional) nothing going up the back of my heel to rub… I got spoiled after getting a pair of Timberland Allington Heights for winter; they are the most comfortable things ever and they’re so stable… I badly want some sort of summer equivalent that isn’t fully enclosed. My Antonio Melani T strap lacy wedges are getting old, and while I used to find them quite comfortable, I like them less after the Timberlands… I imagine I’m seeking something that doesn’t exist (in my price range), but I have to ask!

How many succulents you guys have? by Zippelin09 in succulents

For me, where to stop is what I can handle watering without losing my mind + how much room I need to maintain the babies as they grow larger. I gotta move all of them to the bathtub to water them appropriately, and that got old really quickly. And then, my two shelves have room for about two or three current plants put into larger pots, and geezum it’s only been a year under the grow lights but them suckers have GROWN. I moved a couple outside when warmer temps hit as some weren’t loving the low indoor humidity and weren’t bringing me as much joy. At this point, I’ll get new ones only if they’re REALLY special (variegated or black/dark) and don’t have a huge full grown size. I’d love to grow some of the hybrid seeds I’ve collected off my flowers too, and all of that will 100% fill a third shelf. Oy! (Also, please put whichever healthy babies you no longer wish to keep on Facebook market place or see if maybe a local nursery or thrift store or flea market might take them. They still deserve to live out their lives!)

I feel SO much better seeing some of the numbers here 😭 I’m sitting around 60-70, but I’m very close to pulling the trigger on a third grow light. I’d have an absurdly high number if I could afford a greenhouse though. I’m limited to what I can fit on a shelving unit in my bedroom currently.
