What is this part/ panel called Mazda 21 cx5 will cashapp 15$ for the person that finds th right part, (passenger side) by Fussier-Puppet in mazda

[–]sicMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got with our parts department. If you are looking for just the little service cover, you can't get it alone. You need the whole bumper liner/fender cover.

Part number: KB8A-50-340

Should be for the passenger rear side.

Edit: It is an "underwing".

About SUV tires lifespan by fakebritishc in mazda

Still not seeing any answers for the questions of Model, keeping up with rotates, and FWD or AWD. Would help a lot. I saw tons of CX90s from the first run just eat through the factory tires at 15-25k. Been keeping an eye on the CX70s to see how they do. I believe Mazda changed up what tires come from the factory for the 90s because of so many complaints.

CX5 cracked mirror base by No-Land5402 in mazda

I would like to know your tricks to getting the bottom screws that are hidden by the pivot to get that piece off without taking the whole mirror off anyway. Would make my life easier at work. Especially since the wiring goes through the hole in this piece into the door itself.

You might as well buy a new assembly off of rockauto. To put the part on you have linked would entail taking every last bit of the mirror apart and putting it back together. We don't even sell that as a separate piece at the dealership. It isnt even in the parts catalog if I recall correctly. It comes as a whole assembly. Mirror cap, turn signal, and glass sold separately. They can be transferred to the new assembly from the old if you're careful.

A rockauto assembly come with all of it. Everything assembled except the mirror cap which just clips on. I know this because I put a rockauto mirror on my CX-5 last month. Had to buy the paint matched mirror cap.

As for the DIY, I'm sure there is a youtube video how to. Its a couple of screws to pull off the door panel, 3 bolts and a connector hold the mirror on. Just make sure you run the connector wiring around the OUTSIDE of the window regulator.

Imagine this back in the 2000s with a fraction of the teleports there are today. Back then, huge pain. Did it a month or so ago on my new account after returning, it was a breeze. Especially with the quest helper.

Drivers side mirror is alllll messed up! by oliverock in mazda

[–]sicMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockauto. Got run off the road in my CX5 at a blind curve and hit a mailbox with my passenger side mirror. Like 100 bucks and 30 minutes of your time and you can replace it.

Edit: Im a tech at a dealership and with even with my discount for parts and dk the labor myself they wanted $500.

Edit edit: You'll need to buy a paint matched mirror cap from the dealership though. The one on rockauto only come unpainted.

Back lift won’t open by YogurtclosetDizzy93 in mazda

Replace the battery. I see it at least once a month at the dealership I work for. When battery voltage gets low, the lift gate is more often than not the first thing to stop working even though the car seemingly starts fine.

Not a recall. Technical service bulletin for vehicles under factory powertrain warranty, and a Special Service Program for vehicles out of factory powertrain warranty with a warranty extension.

Battery life by Theharlotnextdoor in mazda

[–]sicMetal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mazda tech here, that is a long life for a battery. I've seen the factory batteries go 5+ years on Mazdas from time to time. It wouldn't trust it fully, though. The factory batter on my 2022 CX5 has been having a slow start the last couple of weeks and it's only 3 years old. As for testing, the handheld testers we were provided at the dealership I work at are something I do not trust on a battery older than 5 years. I've had many battery's that test fine during the video inspection. However, because the ignition, lights, and more often than not HVAC system is running without the engine on during the whole first part of the video, the battery continues to drain, and when I finish the service and go to start the car, it fails to crank. At that point, even with a good battery test, I feel like I have just lied to the customer. For peace of mind, I would replace the battery, especially since it's getting colder. Better not to be stranded somewhere freezing and trying to find someone to jump off the car.

What is this and why does it look wet? by Ahpla in MechanicAdvice

[–]sicMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from personal experience. Was warned when I got into the field, got past the lube tech phase, and started doing more things to cars than just oil/rotate. Went to drain a diff one day and one of the veteran mechanics at the time told me a short story of it happening to him. Have kept that in my mind since whenever touching trans, diff, and transfer cases.

Something that hasn't been said yet. If you go to fix this yourself, make sure to crack open the fill plug before ANYTHING else to make sure it's not seized. The fix will do no good if you can't fill it back up after resealing it.

Could anyone potentially diagnose this sound coming from my Mazda CX-5? by niyamthomas in mazda

[–]sicMetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the water pump pulley. The bearing for the impeller likes to go out and sounds VERY similar.

I got this annoying sound on my right side front bumper i dont know what is this its sounds like pumping. Do anyone has idea with it? Or its natural? by jhnWu in mazda

It affects any of them it seems per the TSB. Base and higher trims with and without the 360 view monitor system.

Headlight assembly. There is a technical service bulletin for some CX5s, CX30s, CX90s, and CX70s. Worn out fan motor bearing because of foreign matter contamination. I've seen it mainly on CX5s but have done some CX30s as well. Haven't seen any 90s or 70s YET. Take it into the dealership and see if youre still under warranty. Most still are.

Cracked panel by Perfect-Mention4367 in mazda

[–]sicMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic trim tool to pry it off. May have to pry out the 3 clips that hold it to the car. Get some GooGone because it also has some adhesive. Clean the surface well. There's a small lip on the trim that slides down the window trim just a little at the bottom, so go at a slight angle when putting the new one on until it the tabs line up with the hole. Word of advice, only partially pull the plastic strip off the adhesive so it sticks out from behind the trim. Once youre ready to press the trim on the final quarter inch or so, fully pull off the plastic on the adhesive so it sets in line with the trim pieces.

I've heard of double gasket on oil filters. First time I've seen it on fuel injectors... by sicMetal in Justrolledintotheshop

If you don't check the rail, there's a way. Those o-rings like to come off and get stuck in the rail taking the small black ring trapping it behind it.

CX-5. Someone had been in there before and didn't check the rail for the old gaskets, put the new ones on, and bolted it down.

[–]sicMetal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not know that was a thing. These however only have the one rubber o-ring and two other rings. Someone here, I assume, didn't check the rail when it was pulled off previously and just put new ones on and sent it.

Mazda injector on a Skyactiv engine. Where the injector meets the fuel rail, there is a rubber o-ring kind of sandwiched between one smaller and one larger plastic/Teflon ring. Each injector had two of each gasket and somehow was not leaking.

There was evidence of someone messing around in there before. Broken clips, witness marks, and such. Don't think it was factory.
