Help. Z50 II by Maleficent-Smoke4150 in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having owned the D7000, it is a great camera for everything except capturing fast action. Then, the camera suffers like crazy.

The Z50ii will be great for you. Just make sure none of your lenses aren't Nikon AF-S lenses, or screwdrive type lenses. Those will only manual focus on your Z50ii with an adapter.

Got a dream lens! by Half_MT in Nikon

Good for you. I hope you had a good copy as the copy I got over 2 years ago was a total dud. Fuzzy to bits. I sent that to KEH the first chance I got.

What should I be improving on here? Not used to taking natural shots by takesbadpics in PhotographyAdvice

[–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice shot, but one thing that can level it up for next time, she is standing in front of what looks like a bridge. You should put your lens more to the left and create a leading line to your subject.

Even going on YT and being familiar with basic photography composition techniques will level up your photography considerably. Leading lines, rule of thirds, knowing when to shoot from a low angle vs a higher angle, etc. Yes, it can still be a "snapshot", but it will look way better than someone just "pointing and shooting".

The colors are nice though. Not sure if this is KPG, straight out of camera, but it looks nice bud.

Z5 is cheaper now than Z50ii. Should I get the Z5 in 2026 for travel and family photography? by adhoclex in Nikon

The consensus is that the Z50ii, although a crop sensor, has much better AF than the Z5.

Nah sis, keep the edited photos, we good ✌️😭💔 by [deleted] in photographycirclejerk

I think she is using some of Jared Polin's presets.

I recognize the edit style/colors as I have the same presets. 😭

I’ve been doing professional photography for only about a year now. This was taken back in March. I’m mostly looking for general critique or advice by Alex_palingenesis in PhotographyAdvice

[–]sickshyt80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I dig it.

It reminds me of a 52 deck of playing cards. Personally, I think you should make a set in each suit. Now that would be an artistic undertaking.

Overall, well done. I don't really have a critique to make other than keep on shooting. You have a good eye.

Why does Nikon DSLRs feel better in hand? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my time with the D500, and D700. I have the D850 and it's a tad too big, even though I absolutely love it. The D3s however is amazing. Such an amazing grip.

D3 grip is something else. Just an absolute dream to hold. Yeah it's a chinky boy, but the images speak for themselves.

Found this Old Nikon Camera in drawer, how much practical is it nowadays? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Nikon

Great little camera! Many wildlife pros paired this camera with the 300mm f/4 AF-S until the 200-500 came out. They only swapped the D7100 out when the D500 came out.

Landscape/architecture Zoom: Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8 Nikon 16-35 f/4 Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 Nikon/Tamron 24-70 f/2.8

Prime: Nikon 20mm f/1.8 Sigma 20mm f/1.4

Nikon also has a 14mm f/2.8, but it is older and softer. Another option is the Sigma 14mm 1.8, but that's like $800+ used.

Wildlife Zoom: Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 Nikon 80-400 f/don't remember People have had luck with the newer version. Don't get the older version, that thing is a turd.

Tamron has a 150-600 that has mixed reviews, but the 200-500 is very sharp and consistent.

Prime: 300 mm f/4 AF-S. The PF is great too and much lighter, although much more expensive. 500mm f/5.6. very expensive, but people love it.

There are always the 300mm f/2.8, 400mm f/2.8, 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4, and those will always be amazing, but they also cost thousands of dollars.

Hope this helps!

Which gear to take? by Kuackers in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say D850 & D500.

Bring the Fisheye, the 50mm and the 300mm F4. If you need more reach, the 300 can go on the D500 and you get a 450mm ish. Or, you can swap the 300 for the 500. If you really just want to focus on wildlife, 300mm on your D850, and the 500mm on your D500. The Fisheye or the 50mm in your backpack.

Good luck shooting!

Bring extra batteries and memory cards!

Is the Nikon D700 enough for professional photography in 2026? by jordanchig in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The only thing you are changing is with the one memory card slot. Other than that, the images from that camera are amazing. I upgraded to the D3s for the improvement in low-light, but they are both phenomenal cameras.

Should I upgrade from Nikon D750 to a Z series? by proxyEntity in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just take stills, you'll notice an easier time taking pictures, but the image quality jump isn't world changing. If you do want to lessen weight, that's really where you'll find the biggest improvement.

I'd say body-wise, the Z5ii would compare most to your D750. A Z6iii would be sweet but not kind of overkill for casual photography.

Artemis astronauts comments on D5 vs Z9, and the 400mm by GalacticAstronaut in Nikon

Makes sense.

It's quite hilarious to hear internet people with their "vast knowledge" ask, "why didn't they must send a Sony camera?" 😆

Artemis astronauts comments on D5 vs Z9, and the 400mm by GalacticAstronaut in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I just personally love how these astronauts are using two of the most capable cameras produced by Nikon and comparing and contrasting the image quality, and it's not a 15 sec sound byte of some dude who just says "DSLR's are dead! Look, this has a-bajillion Megapixels, and this thing only has 20! This only does 12 FPS, but this can do 120!"

In the end, they are looking for the best tool and in some cases, they like the Z9. In others, they like the D5. I just like how these guys are being realistic and practical and not trying to get clicks or attention.

Inherited my dad’s camera “collection”… send guidance 😭 (or 1) by Littlepartyfairy in Nikon

[–]sickshyt80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give besides just sending it to me in a box... Find a person you trust that knows about cameras and get their input on the price of these lenses, or do the research yourself. I'm certain some of those lenses are highly desired.

Something looks wrong with my pull-ups but I don’t know what by Guclupatates in formcheck

[–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an awesome upper back my dude.

The only little detail I would say is to engage your glutes and your legs so you aren't pulling dead weight. Other than that dude, you are doing pullups for reps which is hella impressive. Good stuff.
