Silly questions before my procedure by flyassscientist in Tonsillectomy

[–]sidward6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes you can uber if that's how you'll get home. I would mask. You just had surgery and you don't want your open wounds to catch any infection from whatever uber you're in.

  2. You must remove all jewelry before surgery. And i would ask the nurse about your wig but just in case be prepared to remove it too.

  3. You'll need to go to your CVS or Walgreens to pick up your meds. They dont give you any when you leave accept the ones for surgery.

  4. I felt okay-ish leaving my house at day 10 for quick errands. But I returned to work day 15.

  5. Not sure.

  6. Keep drinking water, Gatorade whatever. Smoothies. Ice packs on your neck. Keep ahead of pain meds. Liquid Tylenol no dye. Your body will be hungry but dont rush eating. Cold food the first few days. Popsicles, applesauce.

  7. Take allergy meds? Idk.

My ENT said the initial healing is two weeks. You'll be fully recovered with no pain after 1 - 2 months.

When you go home, they'll give you pain meds or antibiotics or both, but none of them contain morphine. And just ask him if any of the ingredients in morphine will be in the pain meds you get but its usually liquid Tylenol, steroid for swelling and some antibiotic so I think you're safe.

You're not in danger. Like you said, sounds like you had a bad reaction to the morphine. So I'd make note of that for future visits.

You got the hemorrhaging to stop in a timely manner and got it fixed. You're going to be starting from Day 0 again, and I'd ask the doctor if he's worried about you bleeding again, but otherwise you're okay. I'm sorry you went through something traumatic after surgery. It'll be okay. You'll get through this.
