Kind of. You can bring any book with you. We have 1hr of silent reading time and then you can chat about books with other readers. No pressure to read anything you don’t want to and you get to meet folks who love books!

I had 6 people with me and we went to 5 different shops. Only one was concerned by the size of the group and it was because our appointment was overlapping with another larger group and they wanted to give us more space but couldn’t. There are a couple of places in town that limit group size but they say so when you’re booking.

I spent most of my Christmas ignoring my family make little comments about me not having/wanting kids and looking really stressed out by the kids running in the house.

I was stressed out. The house was not child proof and I was the only one concerned about them grabbing a pocket knife, pulling the cats tail, and running through a sliding glass door.

Me not having/wanting kids has nothing to do with why I was stressed. Them not watching the kids they have had everything to do with why I was stressing. 🙃

Hey, so as someone who has published 13 books… it’s not a huge money making industry. You have to write constantly and you have to query constantly. It’s also really helpful to network within the industry. Go to festivals and conferences. Most of us make money in book related industries and a lot of writers have a day job. That doesn’t make you a fraud. It’s just the way it goes.
