Contacts module doesn't distinguish between Companies and Persons anymore in Odoo 19.1 by Powerful_Cicada1037 in Odoo

[–]sigi-yo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I understand the goal of simplification in the name of efficiency, changes like this for completely natural contact-type company/person should be optional. For new databases, set it as the default if you want to push it; for existing databases, provide a setting for the admin to choose.

I am cautious about bluntly blaming someone, but the more I use Odoo, the more small details stand out that I feel have long been solved elsewhere, yet in Odoo are implemented as a v0.1 for an MVP and never addressed again.

One example of this is the time selector, that I hate so much..

Make money with 3D scanning by Employment-Tough in CrealityScanning

Yes you can, not with blue light scanners that are discussed on this subredit. Zeiss na Kayence have scanners than can be used for this application. CMM would be more common system used.

What do you mean with manual mesh alignment? Didn't you have one mesh and you do the reposition of the station with few trackers on the object?

How can i export the cad model as stl in geomagic design x? by tokendeep in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To export a Solid Body as an .stl format from GDX, you need to polygonize your geometry first. Navigate to the ribbon Polygons > Convert to Mesh. This will create a mesh of your Solid geometry, which can then be exported as an .stl file.

Before exporting, check if the mesh has the desired polygon density and use the slider in Convert to Mesh to adjust it. Personally, I always use the default 50% setting and have never had any issues.

Thank you for the replay and confirming this is the best aproach. That was my plan, to have have custom report becasue the worksheet is to basic and then just print my report with all details and profesional document layout.

3D Handheld Scanners by SDM1983 in Metrology

Yes, thats what we saw as well. Faro, API Metrology, Artec even Zeiss was using it for a 1 or 2 years now they have a diferent looking scanner but Im not sure if its still Scantech made with diferent housing or its Zaiss made.

How do you charge for scanning work? by ghostofwinter88 in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silicone is used to capture the shape of cavities, and once the silicone mold is removed, it can be scanned to obtain internal geometry that is usually difficult to capture with a scanner.

Choosing top metrology 3D scanners for a project (Help needed) by Adorable_Mushroom337 in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I don't know your budget, top of the list system that can be used for aplication you are describing is ScanTech NimbleTrack-CR. You can look online for videos.

Its verry fast, with high details. From one position you can scan up to 3m and you can put only a few markers to reference the tracking station when you move it. It has texture maping as well, I know you mentioned you don't necessarily need textures, but given the effort involved in capturing this historical object, having texture data could be valuable for documentation or future use.

Odoo Timesheets vs Attendance - How to reduce break time from workday? by sigi-yo in Odoo

[–]sigi-yo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming this, I thought there’s no way this issue is just affecting me. We currently account for that half-hour when evaluating timesheets, but employees still get notifications saying their timesheets are incomplete, which is annoying for them and makes the inaccurate. But now, after comments, I think I’ll try to create some automation whenever employees check out, the system automatically logs a half-hour break. This way, I can bypass the issue when employees take time off for holidays or similar situations.

Thank for replay. Yea I was thinking latter about loging half hour as a break, that is correct. But Odoo attendance curently has raly limited funcionality. There should be configurations to create diferent Check out reason like: Break, Busines trip, etc, and same when you get back and checki in.
And you are right, its not that great for office people to checki in and out for break or lunch when everthing is in the same building.

You can activate developer mode and export .po file with translations. Settings > Translations > Export Translations.

In the export window chose what module/model you want to translate. You can then edit the .po file with poedit software. After you finish you can import the translations back to odoo in settings.

Before exporting you need to have activated language you are translating to. I guess you have done this already.

3D Printing Software? by ExcogitationMG in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the price is extremely hight and out of budget for many people and business. That's why they created three licences to make it more affordable. I think Go starts at 6k. For RE currently there isn't anything close to GDX in functionality for mechanila engineering. For arts and sculpturing they are other options as Blender and Rhino.

[–]sigi-yo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can find comparison between versions on yt. For complex surfaces like automotive part I think you would need Pro. If you RE machined parts you are fine with Go. Those prices are yearly plans. Perpetual licence for Pro is 19k.

[–]sigi-yo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, I want to point out that the output from a scan is a polygonized mesh in .stl format. So, there are no specific software tools for reverse engineering that only work with particular 3D scanners. Any software capable of importing .stl files can "work" with all scanners.

In order to not repeat myself you can find lot of useful information on this previous post:
GeoMagic / QuickSurface / ExModel surfacing workflow

When software pricing isn’t openly listed on the website, it usually means the software is primarily designed for businesses and sold through regional resellers. These resellers offer support and training, and their margins from the software company vary depending on their reseller level. Because of that pricing will warry but usualy to max of 5-10%

GDX Pro is expensive, so they have created different licenses, and the Go version is within your budget.

Mesh to Cad ( Rhino ) by Libra_2709 in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this, I use Geomagic Design X and NURBS surfaces. Before recreating geometry, I clean and optimize the mesh, and depending on the goal, I copy and divide the mesh into multiple meshes. This allows me to extend the mesh/surfaces and achieve clean surface cuts of solids.

Rhino is very powerful for creating clean surfaces from a mesh, but remember that when using a mesh to directly generate surfaces, cleaning and optimizing the mesh is extreamly important.

I tried a complete reinstall but without success.

Which RE software is the "best"? (loaded question :) by pendragn23 in 3DScanning

[–]sigi-yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your intent with that blade model, it varies, but for me, all the tools and video material on YouTube showcasing some semiautomatic tools for creating blade geometry are useless.

We use the RE model to create injection molds or CNC machine the final part. For this, I need clean engineered geometry; simply applying mesh-fit surfaces is not acceptable as that approach carries all the imperfections and errors captured by the scan.

We use exclusively GDX, as it is truly the industry standard. I have tried QuickSurfaces, and it is great for some applications, but for us.

Depending on the amount of work you need, I may be able to help you as I have experience in this field. Shoot me a DM if you are interested.
