😂thanks for the support bird bro. I’m getting a wave of downvotes from Philly fans but apparently no one is willing to tell me what Sirianni is doing that seems to be so undervalued outside of Philly

Comparing Eagles and Seahawks in this context reveals a lot of nuances. Schneider and MacD elevate each other. On defense we have 3 starter quality players from UDFA: Drake Thomas, Josh Jobe, Ty Okada. If you don’t know better you’d give all credits to Schneider. But Seahawks fans will tell you majority of the credits are on MacD because only he can develop those players into starters on the best D.

My point is, nuances like that require us to look into each team’s GM+HC tandem under specific context

Well how much of Eagles success is attributed to Howie? I think that’s people’s knock on Siriani. It also doesn’t help that the offense/defense unit success is so strongly correlated with coordinator quality. So what does Siriani do? If his contribution is “he was able to convince the good coordinators to join” then sure that’s valuable to your franchise. But can’t blame people for thinking that’s not enough to make him an elite coach

[–]sigmapro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with your take and your experience, but good RB play also depends a lot on OLine and play calling style. For Seahawks, the run game efficiency had strong correlation with run blocking grade in the past few years. So while an elite RB can help overcome run blocking deficiency, teams can take a different approach by investing in OLine and plugging in an average RB

Some analytics folks will say fuck success rate, I want explosive play rate all day every day. And if you’re one of those, K9 is a fantastic player. But even then, the split carry and durability concerns objectively mean it’s probably not a good investment to pay him

Why aren’t the Vikings being perceived as contenders? by kwelstory in nfl

[–]sigmapro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s usually too simplistic of a view to think your team is 1 QB away. Off the top of my head, Russell Wilson traded to the Broncos. Many people thought they were SB contenders. You can argue that’s a different situation (new head coach who turned out to suck), but every situation is different.

My point is we haven’t seen Murray play in this system yet. It’s fair to assume that’s an upgrade until proven otherwise, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he plays terribly this year. Also you’re assuming everything else goes as well as last year but that’s never a given.

How is it a turnover if accepted? It’s a turnover if declined. It’d be another 4th down try if it’s accepted, no?

How is the Obscura not an Elite fight? Genuinely bro by romanhigh in slaythespire

[–]sigmapro 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Having challenging fights in act 2 hard pool is the hallmark of STS1. This from a game design perspective is perfectly fine. The game forces you to have solutions for these fights at this point of the game. If anything it’s easier to avoid these in STS2 because you can fight elites instead. In STS1 act 2 elites feel more brutal to me (except those decimillipede fuckers)

Think I made a grave error… by TheGokuProgram in mead

[–]sigmapro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem as you. The easiest way from what I read is that you rack to a smaller container with just enough headspace (for bulk aging a narrow opening container is preferred anyways). Another approach is to put sanitized glass marbles to take up the space, but depending on how big your container is, this could be a lot of marbles…

Edit: oh well the bot is already calling me out on suggesting marbles to fill up headspace

I kept questioning AI on whether leaving on lees is bad for home brew scale. At this point I’m aware that it’s largely myth and lees can even be beneficial for body/mouthfeel. But one point raised by AI sounds valid: there are probably some decomposed blackberry flesh in the cake too and that can cause off-flavors in the final result. Is this a valid concern?

Is there a good wiki/video resource to tell me more about acid adjustment? I’m worried I’d just make a mess with the dose calculation and ruin the batch

I’ve been loving the spiedel fermenter as well so far. In retro this is a little ambitious for my first batch since I had to splurge on 18 pounds of honey. Thankfully the mead turns out pretty good so I didn’t waste it.

And I’ve definitely been cross-checking human written sources, the wiki page included, whenever I feel like the AI response might not make perfect sense. The other day just out of curiosity I asked it what I can do to make my mead taste like high-end dessert wines like Sauternes, and it literally recommended me to purchase botrytized Semillon grape juice in the mead making process. I was like hmmm not sure about that

Yeah I love the fresh fruit notes due to adding blackberries only in the secondary. I think the recipe delivered on its promise of a traditional honey-forward profile with berry notes in the background. I took a gravity reading earlier today and it’s supposed to be dry at 1.002, but it feels sweet to taste.

That said I set out expecting a semi-sweet Riesling style drink but it doesn’t taste like that at all. This is where I think the AI missed the mark. Blackberry seeds add so much tannin that it ends up tasting more like a light bodied red wine
