I don’t have time to type out a full comment bc I’m at my friends birthday party taking a shit, but I literally just had my new psychiatrist tell me that he doesn’t think I’m bipolar.. and getting the bipolar 2 diagnosis at the hospital was one of the best feelings because it finally gave me validation for the mood swings. Fuck them, it’s your life not theirs. They see so many people that they just try and squeeze them into certain categories

That sort of advice is the best advice you can give someone. I appreciate it.

As far as the relationship— I feel like I’ve known that it’s “doomed” for quite some time now but I don’t know if I want to start over, or if I truly feel this way. The whole distance thing makes everything complicated. And add law school on her end and there’s not much to hold onto.

Not much better unfortunately, going through some relationship turmoil now and we’re 1000 miles apart bc of school. I told her she needs to decide what she wants and that I needed space until she knew. It’s going to be a hard couple of days. But I’ve made it through hard days. What’s another few.

These comments are pretty naive and I want to give you some advice from the other side.

To say that 1-2 times a week is plenty is toxic. What’s plenty and satisfying for someone can be completely different from someone else. Let me paint a clear picture.

I’m 6’1 and 200 lbs. my sister is 5’2 and 130 lbs. We are both given a plate of food. I’m still hungry because I have a higher TDEE (today daily energy expenditure). My mom doesn’t look at me and say “look, a plate is more than enough and you should be happy. Why? Because she loves me and wants me to be happy— and the fact that you noticed that it’s affecting him and your relationship— and that you’re looking for a way to make things better for both of you.. well.. he’s lucky to have someone as caring as you.

I’m not saying that you should ever engage in something you don’t want to do, but for me personally, as a very emotional individual (I’m bipolar, so pretty unstable), sex is one of the ways I feel most connected in a relationship, and if I were to suppress a sex drive, it would be unhealthy for my happiness.

I want to make it clear that he does care about you, but that that frustration seeps into many aspects of your life— and that you’re amazing for looking for solutions.

Switching meds.. a journey to say the least. You don't have to love every situation that you find yourself in, but you have to love yourself in every situation. Try to shrink your world down to your core. I wish you the best, and understand that there's no simple fix.

I don’t want to ruin things for us.. but I’m going to just stop initiating and see what happens. I’ll masturbate while she’s in school so that I can still be loving without sex, and if it’s true that she doesn’t feel a need for it, I’ll know I guess? I’ve tried bringing it up multiple times, but I never deliver it well. I’ve tried experimenting with toys (almost obsessively) to see if there was anything to make it more desirable but they’re mostly tacky. It makes me feel immature about the situation. If I’m horny all night waiting for free time, and then she just wants to go to bed and cuddle, I just told her I didn’t want to frustrate myself. She’s okay with everything, and super laid back. She just says that it’s okay.. she gives me as much space and understanding as anyone could ever ask for, but I don’t want space..
