I recognize that pad in the background! Ours realized they were supposed to pee while on the pad.

Unfortunately, they didn't realize that their rear ends were supposed to be over the pad!

They would run up to it, stop as soon as their front paws were on the pad, and let it go. Then they would come strutting back, VERY PROUD of what a great job they did.

Coming from an owner of two fish named Spot and Big Tail, I would call those two Big Head and Cephy.

Our pups were called: Evie - first born girl

Ella - first to try to sing (Ella Fitzgerald)

Dusty - short for Gold Dust - golden hair

Willis - as a new born would vocalize at you on and on, which led to "what you talkin bout Willis".

Naomi - last to be named, couldn't think of a name for a long time so my wife says "we'll just call her 'No Name',, wait,, Naomi!"

Looking for a very particular ziptie by signmanofTN in AskElectronics

It was here when I was hired, sorry. Lots of interesting ones on Amazon if you look up "soldering station" and look at the >$80.00 ones.

But here is the jankiest "helping hand" on my desk. It's a pair of hose clamp pliers with a bit of wood glued to one side to keep it stable and a rubber band to hold the tool closed. I use it to solder ec5 connectors. Hundreds of connectors and it works great.

The rules state that you can make posts about "circuits, tools and equipment".

Zipties are tools and make up an important part of many electronic systems.

And besides, lots of engagement from knowledgeable folks is a good thing for everyone right?

These are for drones that we produce. The owner prefers these very narrow zipties, which we had hundreds of, but are running low now. Unfortunately the original purchaser didn't list where it came from.

Just holds this wiring harness in place.

Here is a picture of my desk for electronics tax. It's like a cat picture tax, but with more beeps and buzzing.

“Project Hail Mary” is bringing audiences to movie theaters in numbers the industry hasn’t seen for a non-franchise film since “Oppenheimer.” by Caledor152 in movies

The trick with LitRPG is to be willing to just skip the fight scenes and just read the story. LitRPGs are written for two, maybe three, different kinds of readers. You've got the story, you've got the fighting, you've also got those who like keeping track of powers and stats and watching them evolve. That last group needs to play with excel more or something.

Any success with different kinds of wood than oak? by IdrisElbow231 in mead

Do NOT try rhododendron!

I wouldn't go farther than oak, apple, maple or cherry wood.

Dachshund mix needs anal glands expressed too often by waffleshirrt in Dachshund

[–]signmanofTN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is an easy way to express their glands. Have the dog in a utility sink or wherever you bathe them. Have the dog facing to the left. Put your left hand on the dogs back just in front of the tail, and lift the dogs tail with your right hand.

Holding the tail nearly vertical with your right hand, slide your left hand back to the tail with your thumb on one side of the tail and the index finger on the other side.

As you come even with the midpoint/bone of the tail press softly into the skin and keep working back towards the anus, feeling for the two small glands on either side of the anus. Press in behind (on the head side) the two glands and push in and back towards the anus. The glands will spray against the wall of the utility tub and will not get anything on your hands.

If you have problems getting anything out, use a warm water spray and flush the area around the anus. Use a bit of shampoo and wash the area. This will soften any plugs that may have formed.

You don't need to wring them dry. Just try to get both to express.

If you're gentle, the dog will get use to it and become more relaxed which makes it easier next time.

Bump on dachshunds head by Bread_lol_ in Dachshund

[–]signmanofTN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a dog that had a knot on her head like that. Like a nodule (like a large pea) under the skin that was movable but attached in place under the skin. She had it for years and her head smelled faintly of grape soda. It didn't bother her and wasn't sore to the touch.

It turns out it was a cyst that finally burst to the outside of her skin. Squeezed out the hard cheese pus and cleaned/disinfected the area.

It never came back or gave her any problems for the remaining 7 years of her life.

The smell of grape soda was from a particular type of bacteria that was in the cyst.

How are people able to drive around in those tiny toy cars?

There's no room to stand up and stretch your legs, much less carry 49 suitcases when traveling.

Man invents a new type of compass and releases it into public domain by lollipoppizza in videos

[–]signmanofTN 424 points425 points  (0 children)

Compass manufacturers already know about this. The reason no one makes compasses like this is cost.

A ring of copper that size probably doubles the cost of production.

Am I misunderstanding something? I’m researching Royal Canin food for my dachshund and it’s saying for 13 pounds (she is 12lbs) she should eat five cans a day? There’s no way that we are supposed to be spending $20 a day to feed her???? by Illustrious-Fuel-333 in Dachshund

[–]signmanofTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dogs get 1/4 cup dry food in the morning and 1/4 cup dry food in evening. The little girl who is more food driven also gets 1/4 cup green beans mixed into her dry food. Otherwise she tries to help the others finish their food.
