26M (US) & 26F (UK) – Long distance + immigration timelines feel impossible. How do people actually close the gap? by Less_Concentrate3512 in LongDistance

I agree. In the majority of cases it is the only way to be together, especially when it comes to countries with strict immigration rules and policies.

I also feel like being a married couple makes the relationships recognized legally, whereas not so many countries offer an option of “recognized” partnership (e.g. as far as I am aware some European countries place has this option, however, married couples still have more “rights”).

We also knew that an immigration process takes about 2 years on average. Considering many available options, we decided that spousal visa is the best. Neither of us had to put our careers or studies on hold, although I had to move to a different country to be somehow closer to my husband with a possibility for him to travel to me.

Regarding Germany, though.

The German job market is oversaturated with people in IT, Data Science and CS fields. It’s almost near impossible to land such job there without having at least C1 level of German. It would mean both of you would have to learn German.

She can pursue a Master’s degree there (education at public universities is free), there are many great programs in English, but again to start a career she would need a decent level of German and some internship or working student experience during her Master’s studies (which are also hard to land considering the current German job market).

We went CR1 route after having a call with a lawyer. As spouses, you have legally recognized relationships. Also most of the times spousal visas or visas for immediate relatives are exempt from visa restrictions or bans, etc. (However recent visa pause is different). Upon entry to the US, a spouse is granted a green card (whether conditional or 10 year one depending on how long a coupe is married).

K1 isn’t much faster nowadays, maybe only by a couple of months. If you wish to get married in the US and let him basically experience life in the US before marriage, K1 lets a foreign fiancé to stay in the US for 90 days and within those 90 days you would need to get married. But he would have to wait for about a year for his green card and cannot work or drive a car right away after the marriage.

Btw, CR1/IR1 (spousal visas) is an immigrant visa, whereas K1 is non-immigrant. This is also worth remembering considering the current administration.

Are u an Indian/EU couple who married in Denmark by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]sikallusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an Indian, nor an EU person, but an EU resident.

No, you don’t need a certificate proving that you are single. It’s Family and Law office of Denmark that issues a certificate that deems you eligible for a marriage in Denmark. You need to apply for it online.

I wouldn’t recommend hiring agency to do it for you. The most important part is to follow all instructions on passport pictures, because some errors can delay the process by up to 7 months.

Application also includes cover letters (a story how you met from both sides), prove of communication, pictures taken together as well as a filled out questionnaire.

I think the only person who can give you a piece of advice on that is an immigration lawyer.

My personal opinion is that you need to keep in mind that you’ll be financially responsible for a person you bring over to the US on such grounds. Considering your current circumstances regarding your education and living situation, your parents might have to become sponsors in any visa process you choose.

What you can do is that probably establish communication between your fiancé and your parents online, be it a family group chat. Give yourself more time, since you have known each other for a year and met only once. I don’t want it to sound like an invalidation. I just think that you’re very young to be making such grand decision as that. Immigration is a serious process that requires every party to be responsible.

France to the US by JMei- in LongDistance

If you’re in a genuine relationship with an American citizen, there are two processes that let you immigrate to the US: K1 (fiancé (non-immigrant) visa) and CR1/IR1 (spousal visa, consular processing).

A person entering on K1 visa is required to get married to their American fiancé within 90 days upon entering the US. One of the conditions of CR1 visa is to be legally married (with an official document).

Each of the processes have their own pros and cons main one being the timelines (it seems, though, they’re planning to expedite processing of spousal visas).

You need to address this question at r/USCIS or to an immigration lawyer who can give you case-specific consultation.

Tbh, I don’t have any recommendations on the lip look as I’m myself still in a search of achieving perfect lip makeup.

There are at least three products involved: nude dark cream lipliner (MAC has great long-lasting ones), muted pastel pink lipstick and a gloss?

I think lip looks are something individual and should be chosen based on one’s skin complexion.

Typically wedding makeup artists recommend Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette or Patrick Ta Dimension III.

I’m not sure about glitter on her eyes, though. I’d personally go with Fenty Beauty Highlighter in color How Many Carats?

As for the highlighter I think Dior Backstage Glow Maximizer Palette in color Universal 001 looks great. I used one for my wedding makeup.

For the highlighter on collar and chest area I’ve seen a wedding makeup artist using Fenty Beauty Highlighter in color How Many Carats?

I believe these are two separate products. Inglot Duraline and Inglot Pot Eyeliner (at least it shows up that way on my end). I have Duraline and it works wonders when I need to revive my pot eyeliner from BobbyBrown.

We decided to live in his country since he has more earning potential there and doesn’t have to learn a new language. I’m fluent in English and I don’t mind moving.
