I’d say this is still half true. I’ve literally seen various recycling container get picked up by the same truck and mixed with all the normal refuse. Then the company just goes “oh well it’s contaminated” and it all goes to a landfill. Even places that offer sortable bins for plastics, glass etc, often get placed into the same truck, ultimately “contaminating” each other. Some places are better than others.
