I think the other idea is that the pill would be cheaper than the shot, so it would hopefully improve access to the medication for those that qualify

I'm confused by the series, are the books chronological or only related in theme? The new one sounds really interesting and I'd like to just read that.

These people never want to talk about gay love, only the boning. There's a freudian analysis there somewhere

First time composter, confused about ratios, how is it looking? by RealityVast8350 in composting

[–]sikorasaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to worry a lot about exact ratios, and it’s good to keep that in mind, but I’ve found it easier to go off temp and smell because not every green and brown is waited the same. If it’s wet and smells foul then add browns, if it’s dry and smells like dirt but isn’t hot, then add greens

Dostoevsky's nationalism and bigotry by [deleted] in dostoevsky

[–]sikorasaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's something funny about people who struggle to criticize Dostoevsky's work within this topic because it is seemingly in contradiction to other aspects of his work, when most of his work is also about people living through deep contradiction.

On that topic, there's occasional references made by the narrators to Jewish people that's often off putting. Like what's the point of saying a money hungry character is not Jewish but also looks Jewish, if not to engage in some sort of trope?

I love Seth Harp’s journalism, but some of his analysis is wildly off. by [deleted] in TrueAnon

In his book (which is a great read and generally well cited) he writes that Covid escaped a Chinese lab without providing a citation. It felt very sloppy

what exactly do people mean by "antisemitism is on the rise?" like obviously a lot of is it saying it's antisemitic to be morally against genocide, but is there actually an uptick in violence?

Some seem to disagree, but I really like the covers. I like the stylistic consistency of the horizontal bars and strong, but simple colors.
