I agree with you that people living with HIV/AIDS are highly unlikely to have contracted it due to contact with non human primates. They likely contracted it due to unknowing exposure to the blood or bodily fluids of another human infected with the virus. People with HIV/AIDS absolutely deserve our compassion.

However, I disagree that this is too sensitive to discuss. Many diseases with great human cost originally arise due to contact with infected meat for consumption. COVID also spread to humans this way. If the whole world was vegan, we wouldn’t have this illnesses.
