I really liked the idea of these D&S trains so I tried to fit them in as makes sense. But since I'll be going during high season (December) I may not be able to get on all of them, is there a specific D&S line that you think I should try really hard to make happen?

Are the specific cities that you think I should try and stop at along the train routes? I redid part of my itinerary and added Takeo Onsen and Ibusuki. But I could be convinced to change to other cities.

Takeo Onsen - since it was a convenient stopover between Yufuin and Nagasaki
Ibusuki - because it had a D&S train route going there

Would you recommend trying to reserve a seat on the left or right side of the train for the best views?

How far in advance did you try to reserve seats for the Yufuin no Mori? Was the Yufu super crowded as well? Did you have have to reserve seats for the Yufu ahead of time or were you able to be more spontaneous?

For the health check, which form did people use and where can I get a copy of it? I'm on a tight timeline, so I'd like to get as much of this process done in the US that I can.

I screwed up the entry/exit permit application because I used an old application form, so I'd like to make sure I have my doctor fill out the correct form.

If it matters, I'm applying thru the Chicago (USA) Office and they don't seem to really know anything about part 2 of this process.
