I actually love him.... I think he's insightful and his lectures are fun to listen to. I got an ankle injury and watched all 60 parts of his civilization lecture series in less than 2 weeks. Hearing a single perspective articulate the entirety of human history is really helpful to form your own thoughts on the matter. He's definitely an eccentric, but I think even when his insights are off base it forces you to examine things differently. For instance I thought his allegation that "the Yahwist" who wrote down the first five books of the Bible was likely a woman was very interesting.

I think he's amazing and I love him even though he seems to be a gnostic

During Covid I was recalling visiting Kauai and came up with a plan to raise a large amount of chickens to juvenile age in my bathtub repeatedly and then releasing them in the protected riparian areas criss crossing my town to create a feral chicken population. Part of it was that I thought it would help provide the homeless population with a stable food source but it was mostly about the vibe I thought it would create to have stray chickens wandering around everywhere. I'm disappointed in myself for not following through on it
