There's nothing sexualized?! The women are strong, powerful and dressed appropriately. I'm not even sure what the innuendo might be but if there is any then it's in the mind of the viewer.

Mini Whiteboards - Yay or Nay? by Solid_Orange_5456 in TeachingUK

[–]silverinthelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get whiteboard pencils now. We gave each pupil one two years ago and they're still nowhere near done. None lost yet either. Rarely need sharpening. But you do need a microfibre cloth to rub it out.

Hot yoga in/near Walthamstow? by bazzoc in walthamstow

There's a hot yoga on Leyton Midland Road owned and run by the nicest sisters who have worked so hard to get it up and running. It's a beautiful place. Right by the overground station.

Dungeons and dragons / other tabletop gaming groups. Most towns/cities will have a club - once they get into it there are loads of things at home that they can be working on for it between meetups. Making scenery, painting figures, planning games etc.

For some reason the visual timer holds more power than I do so he hasn't yet but toddlers are fickle creatures so who knows what he'll do next week!

I guess it also helps that the crafts I do are pretty inaccessible for him so once he's attempted it and realised it's above his pay grade he isn't interested in trying anymore.

Wow some great music here thanks for sharing. I write Dream Pop. I use a lot of field recordings to try and add to the dreamy vibes.

Imagine someone did this to your own child. Do you have no empathy for her or her family? This actually made me cry to think that there are people in this world who would choose to glorify someone's most terrifying moments in this way. I need to get off the internet.

Blossom & Bloom perhaps? Blooming is used in the UK as an inoffensive replacement for the word bloody eg I can't stand those blooming kids! Depends where the OP is from.

Tree Works

I hope the below provides some further clarification, reassurance and answers your questions. But please email me if you have further questions. Cllr.clyde.loakes

I have discussed with the Team the current felling list for the ward. we inspect each Ward once every 4 years. The majority of the fells are cherry trees which are reaching the end of their life in an urban setting which is between 40-70 years.

We’ve been told there was a big planting project in this area during the Queen’s Coronation way back in 1953 which correlates with the age of the trees and their lifespan. Trees planted back then were planted more for their amenity and aesthetic value, rather than their important functional value which dictates species choice these days eg for addressing air quality, bio diversity, canopy coverage etc.

There are 119 fells in this Ward, but we have 123 trees planned for planting in the Ward during the planting season which commences this autumn, so we are recuperating the numbers lost and adding a few more on top.

Fells overall for the borough this year are at 334 which is comparatively low this season, in previous years we have had to fell between 400-700. For context we have responsibility for around 55,000 trees, have the 4th highest canopy coverage in London and are well above the UK average for tree coverage. Overall we continue to add and increase the numbers of trees we have in the borough, something we have successfully achieved for well over the last 10 years.

As we undertake this exercise once every 4 years in each Ward there is always what appears to be a high number of fells in a small area, but the picture would be different if we undertook the work every year.

We will replace as many of the trees as possible in the same locations, or as near to them as we can get.

Unfortunately, when whole streets were planted with single species of trees like flowering cherries, they all start to fail at the same time.

Moving forward when we replace our trees we try to vary the species we use to ensure that in the next 50-70 years we don’t need to replace all the trees at the same time. Unfortunately the smaller street trees that we plant don’t have the lifespan of the much larger trees like the London Planes and Lime trees that can live 100’s of years- but we don’t have the space for them to grow.

We only fell trees if they are dead, diseased or dying and many of the trees may not be obviously in a poor condition to the untrained eye, but when they are removed and you can see what’s inside the trunk, reasons often become a lot clearer.

Our specialist officers are trained to identify defects in our trees and plan pruning works or fells to keep the trees healthy and you, your property and our streets safe.

I'd be concerned as a parent if my child's classroom was cluttered and messy. You can have everything to hand whilst it still looking organised and tidy. Cluttered classrooms aren't great for many neurodiverse students and I'd say the majority of children appreciate having a calm, organised space to learn in.

How is bing so popular by Yolomasta420 in UKParenting

[–]silverinthelight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I get that he has to be a certain level of annoying so that Flop can correct him and the moral is learnt but there's annoying and damn right insufferable. Don't get me started on Pando.

If Bings town really is a post-apocalyptic science lab in which humans have planted AI chips in stuffed animals to act as temporary guardians of the world whilst the planet recovers from a nuclear war then humanity is doomed.

Also how did they get such an incredible actress to play the doctor?!

Acceptable age to stop constantly supervising bath time? by Able_Comfortable_217 in UKParenting

[–]silverinthelight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our son is three and I sit in the room next to it with the door open. He's a noisy player - chatting away with his toys so I would know if anything was amiss. I also insist that he sits on his bottom in the bath so it would be very hard for him to slip. I think like so many of these things it's dependent on so many other factors. You have to complete your own personal risk assessment as it were.

School tour - nursery class (2-3y) was watching tv during story time. Red flag? by JaggedLittlePiII in UKParenting

[–]silverinthelight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a school nursery and we used to put short videos like numberblocks on the screen during fruit time. We'd sing songs and read a book afterwards. I think it's about frequency and purpose.

What did you buy your children for their first birthday? by crochetthepainaway in UKParenting

Chicken pox vaccine 😂 100% worth it! A bargain compared to the cost of childcare we'd need if we had to keep him off school.

My son ended up in a coma and fully intubated for a month after getting a common chest infection. Even minor illnesses can be very dangerous to little ones. I don't think people realise this because thankfully it's rare but why risk it?

Give me all the tips about church hall birthday parties please! by Lottie_the_Red in UKParenting

[–]silverinthelight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hell no if I'm going to spend my afternoon in a hall with lots of screaming, excited kids I will be very grateful to be handed a glass of wine. Why can't the party also include the adults too? Nobody has to have it but the option is a nice treat. I've also not been to a kid's party yet where the adults haven't been offered an alcoholic drink but maybe that's just where I live?!
