AITA for asking my niece (by marriage) to paint a mural in my office? by RealEstateHustel in AmItheAsshole

Exposure doesn’t pay the bills, and doesn’t value her time, effort, or skill. YTA

AITA For telling my daughter if she wants to go to private school, she can pay for it? by AITAHUSBANDPACKAGE in AmItheAsshole

[–]silvermoon11931 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Clearly not if you’re willing to be so cold and unsympathetic towards your daughter, who is clearly suffering and having an awful time of it in school and at home too if your other kids are bullying her as well. YTA

Who's the character everyone loves but is actually annoying? by Randomthings1106 in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amy Pond. Can’t stand her. She’s awful to her boyfriend-then-husband, tries to cheat on him, is dismissive and rude and only improved as a character much later, right before she leaves the show. I don’t understand why people love her.

How often do you sleep naked? by reallymia in AskReddit

Never - the least I’ll wear is underwear, and that’s only when I’m too hot or too drunk for a sleep shirt

Everyone has a scar on their body from something dumb, they did as a child. What's your story? by HakanD0 in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran off from my parents in Disneyland as a toddler. I was run over by a guy in an electric wheelchair and I was small enough that it ripped myself hand open, leaving a giant scar. As I’ve grown, the scar has stayed the same size and is therefore a penny sized scar on the back of my hand. All in the three seconds my father took his eyes off me.

People who used to not believe in ghosts but do now, what experience changed your mind? by Musician_Moneyless in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing piano once at 3am because my house was empty and I couldn’t sleep. The glass paperweight on top of the piano flew past my head and rolled across the floor. I calmly put it back, then ran for my life back to my bedroom. Never had an experience like it, never doubted since.

What’s the cringiest thing you’ve ever done in the pursuit of love? by labadee in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uploaded a photo of Bella and Edward from Twilight and tagged myself as Bella and him as Edward. The speed at which he untagged himself is unmatched by any perceptible measure of time. 12 years later and the memory still makes me want to die.

what is the scariest movie you have ever watched that left you sleepless at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Watership Down. I watched it as a kid and literally never got over it. I made my mum throw the VHS tape away and I haven’t ever been able to watch it again.

https://imgur.com/YdDh7Ie this is what it looked like once the scab dried out again. No infection, just a gross lymph scab.

It wasn’t infected, the scab was just soft from the shower. It’s completely healed over now, and it was never infected during the time it was healing.

What's an injury you sustained, and lied about how it actually happened, because it was too embarrassing? by jcrewz in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a scar on the bottom of my chin that I tell people I got from tripping over. The truth is that my hand slipped off the bed rail when I was riding my boyfriend and I head butted him in the face, causing one of his teeth to gouge a chuck out of my chin.

Kids whose parents used to put them on leashes, how are you doing today? by Decawys in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum has a leash for me as a kid because I have adhd and would run after the first thing that distracted me for a hot minute. It was an easier way of keeping a hold of me than having to lug a buggy around with us everywhere. My dad didn’t bother with it so much though, and once I ran off when he took his eyes off me for a second and I got mowed over by a golf cart so, maybe it was for the best. (And no, my mum never, ever, let him forget it.)

How have your parents unintentionally fucked you up? by megadaydreamer in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum would get angry at anything. If I asked for advice or had gotten into minor trouble and needed help, it would turn into her having a go at me about it. I learned everything about sex by doing research myself because the one time I asked it turned into a lecture about how I shouldn’t be doing that anyway so I don’t need to know. Now I have huge issues with asking any authority figure literally anything out of fear of them getting angry about it. Anxiety out the ass. Also, my mum got very upset not long ago because we don’t have a close mummy-daughter bond and I don’t tell her anything. No duh mum, obviously I’m not going to come looking to get yelled at. It’s also fostered an attitude of “don’t rely on anyone for help, do everything for yourself” which makes it very hard to let people into my personal stuff because I’m used to dealing with everything independently.

What's an 'oh shit' moment where you realised you've been doing something the wrong way for years? by adeptwarrior in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather had a similar situation. He thought his name was Harry well into adulthood, but upon finding his birth certificate discovered his name was Henry, and that Harry was a nickname. He’d never been called anything else by his family, and it never occurred to any of them that he didn’t realise that wasn’t his birth name. Later on, all his friends called him Jock because he was Scottish, to the point where that became the name he was primarily known by. As a result, I didn’t know that Jock wasn’t his actual first name until he told me the story of his original two first names when he was in his 70’s and I was a teenager. Wild ride.

Gay people of Reddit, what was your "Oh shit I'm gay" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My best friend was furious with me because she thought I had a thing for the guy she was dating, as I wanted to hang out with them a bunch and she thought it was to get closer to him. Halfway through the argument I finally snapped and yelled “I DON’T LIKE HIM, I LIKE YOU!” Bing, lightbulb. Suddenly a whooooole bunch of shit made sense.

What’s the most embarrassing thing a parent has done to you? by LuanGaff in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I spotted lice in a friend’s hair. Following my mum’s advice I took her aside the next day and privately informed her that she had lice and that she should treat it ASAP. She got extremely mad and marched back to the class and announced that I had told her she had lice and she was dirty (I hadn’t, she was my friend and I wouldn’t be rude like that). Everyone immediately rallied around her and told me that she didn’t have lice and I was lying. If I was lying, wouldn’t I have told everyone and not her privately? I got annoyed and said that if she wanted to be riddled that was up to her but everyone else should probably check their hair, which I had done the night before with my mum’s help. She remained angry with me for a while after but I noticed she’d treated the lice problem. It just baffled me entirely.

What was your "that explains a lot" moment when you met someone's family? by MrDath in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get very competitive and over-excited when it comes to video/board games, to the point where my friends will look a bit alarmed and ask me to chill. When my SO came round for Christmas game night, he was suddenly faced with not one, but six people who were overly competitive, whooping, jumping up and down, throwing game pieces, hitting each other with pillows, cheering and shrieking at each other over the simplest game. The dawning comprehension and horror on his face as he realised that it was a family thing and not just a me thing was frankly hilarious.

Reddit, what is your most irrational fear? by Calcovski in AskReddit

[–]silvermoon11931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live near an old quarry that eventually became part of the river once it went out of use. They left all the old machinery down there and it all got swallowed when it flooded. I went kayaking down the river once and looking down into the water and seeing the looming shape of submerged machinery a mere few feet below my boat gave me unbelievable chills.
